You do realize that this same question could easily be asked of Donald Trump, ten times over. Mr. Trump's allusion that DeSantis might be a pedo is pretty low, and very disappointing.
In any case, fear is far from the only reason why an aside like this might be made -- perhaps DeSantis is a bit tired of Donald Trump's constant, unwarranted and destructive attacks. If so, it would be hard to blame him.
My biggest hope is that all this internecine warfare ends and ends soon.
I’m not from New York and am unfamiliar with the quaint idioms of that far-left looney bin — but I’m pretty sure “DeSanctominious” isn’t a term of endearment in Queens. Or probably anywhere in the five boroughs.

LOL. Trump is a “snide remark” machine. If you’re going to dish it out you have to take it. DeSantis has kept from dragging the wife into it which Trump would no doubt do if the shoe was on the other foot.

If Trump and his supporters didn’t fear DeSantis, they’d just ignore him. People talk about what they love, enjoy or fear most. That’s human nature. DeSantis says little about Trump so one can conclude he doesn’t fear or love Trump.
