The case against Donald Trump over hush payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels in the build up to the 2016 presidential election is 'flawed', a legal scholar has said.

Jonathan Turley, a criminal defense attorney and Shapiro Chair of Public Interest Law at George Washington University, said the case by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is unlikely to succeed.

Turley was responding to Trump's claim on Saturday that he'll be arrested on Tuesday next week following a long-running probe by Bragg's office into the $130,000 paid to Daniels.

There are two factors which could result in a conviction:

1) A left wing trial judge who will steer the trial.
2) A jury that is as corrupt and biased as the OJ jury was

Just once I would like to see an AG in a Red State, say one with lots of sun, say to a person like Bragg:

“Gee, hope you haven’t done anything illegal in your visits to our sunny state. But don’t worry, we will be impaneling a grand jury to see if you have.”

Another definition of lawfare is that the pubishment is the process. Leftists will bring false charges knowing full well the person will be acquitted but the punishment is the process in terms of time, money and potential loss of image.

And still, nobody is comparing this to the John Edwards case where federal charges were brought and a jury acquitted Edwards of misuse of campaign funds.

That alone should be a big red flag on trying President Trump on the same charges.

Doesn’t matter if it will ultimately fail. The democRATS will stretch out the prosecution and demand that President Trump be taken off ANY election ballot ‘due to the seriousness of the charges.’

They cannot buy President Trump. They cannot offer him billions to go away. They cannot bankrupt him with endless charges, threats of more charges, and endless court proceedings. While he may not be making the same amount of money he made before he ever ran for office, he has made plenty so far, and can afford to fight like hell in the courts. The democRATS have tried to threaten lawyers and law firms to not represent President Trump. The ones that back down from representing Trump, well, he didn’t want such a linguini-spined attorney in the first place.

President Trump is such a huuuuge danger to the Deep State, they will do ANYTHING to keep him away, keep him out of power. They are printing and stealing as much money as possible. They know the $$$ spigot might be turned off. They have turned the American Justice System on its head. Instead of finding a crime, and then investigating, they are investigating a person (Trump) trying to find crime(s). They will invent and fabricate whatever they can in order to stop President Trump.

Illegally Leaked GJ goings on...cobbling a state charge using a federal law and mixing criminal and civil charges is absurd.
Judge should dismiss with prejudice.

It is insane to believe a duly elected President of the United States is about to be arrested.

It's not even clear why - it seems like a trumped up money charge related to paying off some random grifter. When all facts are known, it will become clear that he got Virtue unfairly criticised by the Deep state - new day, same hoax!

The whole Russia Collusion hoax also falls under the same statute. Maybe Hillary can be in prison for her last scumbag years for funding Russia, Russia, Russia and coordinating with FIB to have wiretaps and impeachment charges.

There is no question in my mind that Trump will be indicted, that a Manhattan (democrat) judge and (democrat) jury will convict him, and that New York state (democrat controlled) appellate courts will affirm the conviction.

Welcome to the Banana Republic States of America.
