Russia has been sending some US-provided weapons captured in Ukraine to Iran, sources say

Russia has been capturing some of the US and NATO-provided weapons and equipment left on the battlefield in Ukraine and sending them to Iran, where the US believes Tehran will try to reverse-engineer the systems, four sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

Over the last year, US, NATO and other Western officials have seen several instances of Russian forces seizing smaller, shoulder-fired weapons equipment including Javelin anti-tank and Stinger anti-aircraft systems that Ukrainian forces have at times been forced to leave behind on the battlefield, the sources told CNN.

In many of those cases, Russia has then flown the equipment to Iran to dismantle and analyze, likely so the Iranian military can attempt to make their own version of the weapons, sources said

Truth or fiction?

When was the last time you heard about the UFA firing a HIMARS rocket? October? Remember that game-changer? I figure all the launchers are destroyed or in Russian hands.

Afghanistan is awash in our best weapons. I’m sure they have access. Thanks Joe!

Makes sense, considering the number of engineering students that Iran graduates...but don’t dispair, we graduate FAR MORE lawyers than they do.

I said three weeks ago, both money and weapons that have been sent to Ukraine have been funding Russia...

Our national security leaders are both corrupt and naive... literally the most dangerous combination of people seem to be in charge.

When you get to the friction zone of a conflict with two nations that are that corrupt and you have oversight from a bunch of US folks who are NAIVE and operating at the strategic level then those in the friction zone (operational level) recognize it. They simply take from the naive and position themselves as best they can for when the conflict ends.

That is why the saying came to be “If you are going to take “Vienna” (insert your favorite target here) then take “Vienna” Those who are funding this thing don’t have real skin in the game so they are throwing money and weapons at it looking for an outcome without demanding progress. They gave THE ENTIRE FRICTION ZONE a blank check, and are risking the entire US economy.

We are being led by a sick combination of the most corrupt and naive people on earth. Corrupt and Naive = EVIL
What to do:

Tell Europe they have the lead. This is a regional conflict. We are mildly interested. Call us if you have a good idea...

Good point about:

Planes, guns, night-vision goggles: The Taliban's new U.S.-made war chest

Trump keeps mentioning that.

If the Iranians have the cash they can buy much of what we’ve sent to the Ukes on the world illicit arms market. The Ukes have probably laundered hundreds of millions for DC in this manner.

Last week. There’s a regular stream of HIMARS claims from the Ukrainian MOD.

The most celebrated HIMARS hit lately was on New Years eve. Look it up.

What do you mean by “best weapons”?
Aircraft Carriers?
This is a highly non-specific claim intended to deceive. A favorite method of the US MSM in fact.

The devil is always in the details.

Entirely plausible.

However, both Javelin and Stinger have been around for decades, supplied to numerous countries, some of them sketchy, and if the Russians or Iranians ever wanted samples they could have had them long ago.

Stinger in particular is very old, and the Russians already make superior manpads, the latest versions of the Igla. The best modern manpad system right now, as far as I can make out, is the Polish Piorun, which is another improved Igla.
