Trucking company warns new EPA standards will kill mom-and-pop businesses
FOX Business ^ | March 7, 2023 | Madeline Coggins

Smaller trucking businesses are feeling financial pressure after the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released new standards for semi-trucks to lower air pollution.

Andrew John of the John N John Trucking Company warned that the costs associated with the new standards could kill many mom-and-pop trucking businesses.

...

They go out of business, and we all know how important mall businesses are to the economy."

For the first time in two decades, the EPA released new standards that are 80% stronger than current ones and require semi-trucks to cut harmful nitrogen oxide pollution.

...

The EPA estimates the new requirements could cost an extra $8,304 per vehicle for a big rig with a heavy diesel engine, but those in the industry are preparing for the price to be higher.

...

Sen. Deb Fischer, R-Neb., said, "The Biden Administration is saddling the trucking industry with an onerous regulation that would jack up vehicle costs and hurt good paying jobs. This aggressive EPA rule - which will hit mom-and-pop truck operations the hardest - is also ineffective because it incentivizes operators to keep using older, higher-emitting trucks for longer."

Gasp.... the Feds (bought and paid for by big money) want to cripple/kill off small trucking firms. Imagine that. It’s kind of like the mandatory closures and restrictions against businesses that horribly crippled small retailers, but did little to the “big guys”.

Kill mom and pop trucking. AKA independent owners-operators. The EPA couldn’t care less. As they sit on their fat asses in their do-nothing Federale jobs. And prolly working from home. Staying in the pajamas during the Mon-Fri work week.

The Federale diesel emissions rules get tighter beyond all reason every year.

The tenacity of our benevolent communist rulers in imposing more & more tyranny is unmatched by those seeking (supposedly) to protect our Constitutional freedoms & liberties...

Stinking communist bastards continue to run roughshod over the servile & indolent Aamerican sheeple...

There are no limits to tyranny...
There is no end in sight!

I’ve quoted the Soviet guest on American TV who once said of the supermarkets, trucking and warehousing in America: “Your government distribution system is much more efficient than ours.”

To kill “mom & pop trucking businesses” is the whole point of these new rules. Environmental reasons are just a ruse.

Yes. Besides, if the new standards were that important, taxpayers would be happy to pay for their implementation.

Kalifornia has been killing businesses, large and small, for decades. From the insane minimum wage, to workman’s compensation insurance, and all of the environazi regulations, thousands of businesses have fled. Legislation called SB5 furthered the destruction, hurting independent truckers. On top of that, the Port of Los Angeles passed regulations that older truck tractors that pull the large containers, the trucks had to not be too old. Hundreds more truckers left Kalifornia just when the shipping at the Ports backed up, taking weeks to unload the cargo. There was a forest management company in El Dorado County that employed 150 persons. The day after they raised the Work Comp rates, that company had to close. There used to be 12-13 automobile factories in California. Kalifornia killed all but one. Kalifornia flushes all the water and snowmelt out into the ocean. That way the reservoirs remain low and the drought is permanent. Liberalism really is a mental disorder.

“The EPA estimates the new requirements could cost an extra $8,304 per vehicle for a big rig with a heavy diesel engine, but those in the industry are preparing for the price to be higher.”

And this leads to far more repairs and repair costs.

Right now the Mid-Size 150-200 truck carriers are going out of business - they don’t have the money to invest and have had enough insane government regulations.

The California Truckers said this week at the TPM Conference that California issues a new trucking regulation every day.
