I had in the past referred to this as a Civil war, in which we have interests in but don’t need to get kinetically involved in.
I was wrong, this is now a pissing contest.
Ukraine will run out of men before Russians do, but in any event both countries will be deeply wounded for years to come.
Russia may lose Asia east of the Urals. Ukraine will never get Crimea back, but both countries will be wide open to economic poachers.

The Ukrainians are slowly accruing the advantage over Russia. A smaller force with better, Western-style training and organization using flexible combined arms tactics and modern weapons will almost inevitably beat even a larger force that has top-down planning, autocratic leadership, and obsolete weapons. That is how Ukraine will win, how Israel beat vastly larger Arab armies again and again, and how the US in 2003 used a much smaller army to take down Saddam Hussein.

Putin recently speculated in public that Russia and the Russian may not survive the present conflict. Nevertheless, with continuing US and NATO help, Ukraine will defeat Russia and prosper again. A defeated, post-Putin Russia though may well need US and Western help to survive.

“Russia may lose Asia east of the Urals. “

Where did you come up with that idiocy other than the ignorant recesses of your ‘mind’ ?
