I was the same age as you. From the Carter presidency I also remember the Iranian Revolution . . . and the hostage crisis.

The gas shortage was caused by the Arab oil embargo following the 1973 Yom Kippur War.
A lot of the crap that is happening now with the Brandon administration reminds me of the Carter years.
