What do you think Scholz will do when they tell him, “Putin’s on the phone. He’s calling about Königsberg”?

I'm confused. What had been the German city of Königsberg was part of what Germany lost as a result of its defeat in World War II. The city is now known as Kaliningrad. It's been part of Russia for decades. Putin doesn't need to demand that Scholz turn it over.

The people who might get a call from Putin are the leaders of countries east of Germany: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Moldova.

What, offer to give it back? (Which would be ironic, given that even though the city’s entire population was driven out and replaced after WW2, the citizens of “Kaliningrad” keep wanting to identify with old Königsberg....)

I made a report on Königsberg for one of my German classes in college. The TA teaching the class (a twentysomething from Berlin) acted like she had never heard of the place.
