Kansas GOP picks election conspiracy promoter as new leader

Republicans on Saturday narrowly picked an activist who has promoted unfounded election conspiracies and promised a shakeup to lead the Kansas GOP for the next two years, following weeks of infighting that mirrors the acrimony in the party across the U.S.

Within 30 minutes of the change in the Kansas Republican Party’s leadership, its state committee reviewed a resolution demanding that the U.S. House impeach President Joe Biden for “tyranny” over comments he and his aides made in the summer of 2021 decrying misinformation about coronavirus vaccines spreading within the GOP. The committee tabled the resolution until its next meeting.

The Kansas state committee elected Mike Brown, who has long been active in the GOP in the Kansas City area, as its new chair through the 2024 elections. The vote came three months after Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly narrowly won reelection and the only Democrat in the state’s congressional delegation, U.S. Rep. Sharice Davids, won another term handily in her Kansas City-area district.

The Kansas party’s retiring chair, Mike Kuckelman, and its two other Republican National Committee members supported RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel when she won reelection last month. But Brown called on McDaniel to resign in December, and he said Saturday that the national GOP is seeing an internal “uprising” from members still upset over COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

“The RNC needs to be paying very close attention to that,” Brown said. “It is the future of our party.”

COVID mentioned in this story and the only Republicans who had guts to take out vaccine mandates and mask orders including the ones that the health care industry still has in place were the Republicans in Montana.

GOP sucks up to Big Business like Pharma-Health Care those interests need to be put in their place.

Isn’t everyone a conspiracy promoter to some degree? Some way more. Some a little less.

Everything is a conspiracy until the news can no longer hide it. Then it instantly becomes “move on, old news, nothingburger”

Yep. Kansas may be reliably red, but there are a lot of RINOs. We just reelected puke Jerry Moran.

The Seattle Times is a POS rag with a Trump and J6 obsession. I hate their guts. My sister is a retired Times employee and we are not on speaking terms. Rarely will a day go by without at least one anti-Trump story, and sometimes there will be two or three. Recently, their smelly publisher, Frank Blethen, has been begging for federal money to prop up the rag.

Just the other day, for the second or third time in recent months, they ran an op-ed saying that the Catholic Church has "too much influence" over health care in Washington State. The article was accompanied by a cartoon depicting an obese, elderly bishop barging into a hospital exam room where a woman is sitting. Can you imagine them ever saying that Jews or Muslims have "too much influence" in some sector of the economy, or in society in general? Or running a cartoon depicting an American Rabbi or Imam in a negative light? I can't either.

When the country-club, RINO, no-social-issues Republicans abandoned the Republican gubernatorial candidates and vote for Laura Kelly and before that, Kathleen Sebelius, then this is what happens. They lose their say in the party.

That’s exactly right!

They love to self-righteously say “that’s not who we are.”

Well, we’ve noticed.

One of the biggest political myths around, “Kansas is reliably Red”. As you point out, Jerry Moran was easily reelected. He reliably votes against the interests of Kansas Conservatives and now has six years to continue that behavior.

The original Kansas Republicans were from Massachusetts and Connecticut and came to Kansas to make it a Free State. Their Descendants are still Republicans and they are still New England Liberals, just like their forebearers. Many of these folks are now Democrats, but the Kansas Republican Party is still full of them and the Party is run by these Left Wingers.
