Centrist Sen. Joe Manchin (D) met with Speaker Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) Wednesday to urge the House Republican leader to negotiate with President Biden on legislation to raise the debt limit, a sign the senior West Virginia senator could play a pivotal role in bipartisan talks.
Manchin’s meeting with McCarthy comes at a time when other Democrats, including Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (Ill.) and Rep. Brendan Boyle (Pa.), the ranking member on the House Budget Committee, say that Democrats should not negotiate over the debt limit.

Too early to buzz Manchin off. He’s angered WVers with the latest legislation that kills coal, so he’s got major makin’ up to do IF he wants to remain in the senate.
He could be very handy.
Make Joe come, hat in hand, to meet McCarthy’s demands for cuts
You never know what info you might get...do the meet...
Does Manchin know that he is no longer the one vote that can influence the Senate?
Eff Manchin. He voted for the $1.7 Trillion omnibus spending bill. He is the problem. Raising the debt limit compounds the problem.
Let the dems stew. Shut the freakin government down and leave it shut down.
McCarthy caving in 3…2…1
If McCarthy caves, there will a motion to vacate the chair. He was made aware of this fact during the speaker vote in n o uncertain terms. He either stands firms or becomes a footnote.
More political theater. We all know how this will end.
Chewing gum on the Titanic.
Let’s make this a lot simpler. No cuts to Medicare or Social Security. Slash and burn the rest.
Joe teases that he’s going to do something courageous.
As he spoons on the couch with Chuck.
Please. I lived in WV during the year he co authored the most aggressive gun grab in obamas reign. They still voted for him. That is the reality on the ground in WV.
What is that idiot talking about? Biden is the one who has refused to negotiate.
Makes no sense to me. He was Gov. before ?
So you’re suggesting it’s never too soon to dump him ? He’s in the senate for 2 years more at least....might as well use his support when its offered.....could be helpful. We can’t prevent him from doing anything until ‘24.
