Meet Reagan Democrat Joe Biden
The Hill ^ | 01-24-2023 | JOHN KENNETH WHITE

During the 1980s, Ronald Reagan bestrode the political landscape like a colossus. After two Reagan landslides, the Democratic Party was on its heels, having lost one-in-four of their supporters to the popular Republican. Democrats took pains to study the so-called “Reagan Democrats” and learn what made them tick. Leading the charge was the Democratic Leadership Council, which advocated that the party abandon its Big Government, New Deal-like approach to problems and support a strong national defense and middle-class tax cuts. Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Joe Biden were among its prominent members who liked to call themselves “New Democrats.”

Reagan Democrats liked their man’s support for a strong national defense, opposition to Russian expansionism and tax cuts. In 1980, the Republican platform condemned the brutal Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and warned that it “promises to be only the forerunner of much more serious threats to the West.”

If Slick Willy wasn’t, then he was malicious like Obama. I still recall his open support for homosexuals in the military, which got cut down to so-called DADT.

Bill Clinton always acted in Bill Clinton's interests. While he held the office of POTUS, there were more than a few times when his interests and the nation's interests overlapped.

Subsequent Dem presidents have been sock puppets that have always acted in the party's interests, which occasionally overlap their personal interests, but seldom overlap those of the nation.

Only after he lost his Democratic majority. Before that, he was attempting to push Hillarycare among other abominations.

What’s the point of this article? Leftist at The Hill are don’t give supposed history lessons without a motive. Biden was like Reagan. EVERYONE knows Reagan was bad. /s Biden is bad. Reagan was a Republican. Republicans are bad. That’s advance usage of the Associative Property of Politics. So, it’s okay to go after Biden because Biden is really a Republican. Real Democrats are good. That’s allowed.

“and start caring about America?”

Probably just start pretending they care about America.

Reagan and Biden’s names don’t belong on the same page. Reagan is up there with Washington, Jackson, Polk, and Lincoln.

Today, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) believes that neither the Pentagon nor Ukraine should be given a “blank check.” The political scientist Kenneth Janda reminds us in his new book, “The Republican Evolution,” that a party that once stood for freedom and order now “espouses incompatible principles and undemocratic politics.”

What utter nonsense. Reagan believed in intervening in other nations to free people from tyranny not as a means of producing revenue for our corrupt political class, its financial backers and the defense industry.

Neocon foreign policies have setoff civil wars, destabilized nations and resulted tens of thousands of deaths.

Reagan didn't intervene that much. He stopped a communist insurgency in El Salvador and assisted anti-communists in Nicaragua. No US combat troops were ever used. Lunatics like Dan Rather idiotically compared that to Vietnam. There was also the ill-fated deployment of a small number of marines in Beirut.

The biggest thing Reagan did was deploy hundreds of intermediate range ballistic missiles in Western Europe, over the hysterical objections of the left. It forced Gorbachev to agree to take down hundreds of IRBM's pointed at Western Europe. I don't think that counts as intervening. BTW, Putin began violating that agreement in the Obama years. Trump responded by withdrawing the US from the agreement.
