A speaker at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, promoted the idea of cities where people could live “in harmony with nature” and not own cars Monday.

“What’s important is for policies to change the rules of the game, so sustainability becomes [the] easier choice, not just for the people, but also for the companies,” Bastien Girod of the Swiss National Council, the lower house of Switzerland’s legislature, said during the event.

“In Zurich, we have a lot of districts where you don’t actually need a car, because all the activities, school, buying something, everything you can do in walking distance, and by doing that people don’t buy a car,” Girod continued, noting that they had created an environment where people didn’t need cars, saying they made a “sustainable lifestyle, a lifestyle in harmony with nature is the easiest way to go.”

Girod also praised President Joe Biden for proposing that the United States government only do business with companies that commit to the Paris Agreement.

Did they have to do ferry flights out of Davos in order to find parking for all the private jets again?

...so sustainability becomes [the] easier choice

To what end? So we can "sustainably" support a global population of 15 billion? 30 billion? 100 billion?

"Sustainability" simply means that the earth can carry more people which is exactly what these people DO NOT WANT. It seems like half of the ultra-rich liberals yammer endlessly about depopulation while the other half yammer endlessly about "sustainability."

Rebirth of Nazism using wealth instead of bombs.

Actually the Nazis did advocate personal transportation, in the form of the "Peoples Car" (Volkswagen)

Does that include escaping a tyrannical oppressive government?

This sounds a lot like the supposedly perfect cities in Looking Backward, the 1888 socialist manifesto describing the supposedly perfect world of 2000, written by Edward Bellamy, the cousin of the author of the Pledge of Allegiance, Francis Bellamy.

In the 50’s there were a number of novels inspired by 1984 and the reality of life in the Soviet Union that created such cramped dystopias where the state could track everybody as the story backdrop. Never expected to see life in the ant hill glorified in a non-communist country.
