Amidst visits to Jerusalem and Riyadh, Jason Greenblatt tells me that if anyone can make it happen, he thinks it’s Netanyahu

ABU DHABI – In the coming days, I’ll begin reporting on my meetings with senior government officials here in the United Arab Emirates.

It’s been fascinating getting updates on how the UAE leadership views the new right-wing government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the progress that is being made in developing and deepening diplomatic and cultural ties after the signing of the Abraham Accords, the exciting growth of trade between the UAE and Israel.

Today, however, I want to share more of my wide-ranging interview with Jason Greenblatt, the former chief Middle East negotiator for former U.S. President Donald Trump.

I don’t get it. Why is there a need for a “peace deal”? Are Israel and Saudi Arabia at war?

All the progress toward peace and normalization has taken place under Likud, since the Oslo Accords were and are and could never be anything but a miserable failure. The upside to Oslo has been the steady downward spiral of the leftist political parties' power in the Knesset.

The downside has been that the gullible morons who supported the very idea of negotiating in good faith with their own would-be murderers have either repudiated the idea or died off. Wait, that's another upside. :^)

Oslo did make possible the treaty between Israel and Jordan, and led to the fragmentation of the Arab squatters' political organization. That disintegration of the PLO helped highlight the fundamental stupidity of treating terrorists as if they are not criminals.

Saudi Arabia has been at war with Israel and the West since Israel's founding.  Saudi Arabia is the location of Mecca, and as such the Saudis Royals have been forced by the Sunni Wahhāb ʿulamāʾ (religious scholars to lead the muslim  world's effort to destroying Israel.  The prospect for peace between the two is only possible because the Sunni muslims hate the Shiite muslims of even more than Jews and Iran is about to become a nuclear power.

… The fifth nation that borders Israel at the tip of Eilat is Saudi Arabia, the only Arab nation contiguous to Israel which has remained in an active state of war with Israel since 1948 and the only Arab nation state contiguous to Israel that has never signed a peace agreement or even an armistice deal with Israel...

Saudi Arabia has been at war with Israel and the West since Israel's founding.

And yet, they don't fight each other. Both are considered U.S. allies. I think they trade and often cooperate. So it's not even a Cold War. More like an Ice War. Or a Phony War.

And yet, they fund terror attacks on Israel in the $ millions per year via proxies like the PLO, Hamas, and ISIS, it is and has been a shadow war of terrorism.

No. The distance between Israel and the closest Saudia town, Haqi, is 49km.You can see that they are not bordering each other on a globe.
