Multiple House Democrats are reportedly pushing again for reparations and a national apology for slavery, according to Fox News.
The group reintroduced legislation to create a commission whose members would address slavery in America, and one Democrat hopes the nation can deal with the issue, the outlet continued Thursday: Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, and 52 House Democrats proposed the legislation this week in an effort to keep the issue alive. Her legislation, which was considered by the House Judiciary Committee in the last Congress when Democrats were in charge, is unlikely to taken up in the 118th Congress led by Republicans.

“Though some have tried to deflect the importance of these conversations by focusing on individual monetary compensation, the real issue is whether and how this nation can come to grips with the legacy of slavery that still infects current society,” she said. “Through legislation, resolutions, news, and litigation, we are moving closer to making more strides in the movement toward reparations.”

Warring tribes sold their Black enemies to White traders who took 90% of them to South America and the Caribbean. less than 10% came to the US. Slavery ended in 1863. We have had African Americans are all levels of government, running fortune 500 companies, and some are billionaires. I feel empathy for those who have no drive or initiative to get ahead. But how is that my fault?

I mean, look at Native Americans who have various perks to soothe their wounded feelings. That's been going on for decades. Is it enough? Are they satisfied, and ready to forgo any further investment? No. No they are not. They never will be.

Every black who was a slave is long since dead.
Every white who owned a slave is long since dead.
The ancestors of most present-day white Americans came to this country long after the Civil War ended.

I can 100% agree to both reparations and an apology for slavery. Here are my terms:
1 - reparation funds will go ONLY to living people who endured chattel slavery in the USA.
2 - Reparation funds will be taken, under the force of law, from those living slave holders from the chattel slavery trade in the USA.
All other claims are null-and-void, as they would involve players who were not direct perpetrators, nor victims of the chattel slave trade in the US.
Lets line ‘em up...

Most white people didn’t own slaves, even in the South.
Some slave owners were black.
We still have slavery today and so does almost every other country/society through time. What do you think an H1B visa is?

This is just another mechanism through which a special group in America can pretend to be entitled yet another benefit paid for by the rest of society. Quota’s in all government jobs and universities, special scholarships, protected class status (promotions, layoffs, ratings, etc), hate crime legislation...
If someone murders my wife, it’s not an extra special murder, she’s just a white woman, even if it’s at the hands of a black person. Do you ever see “hate crime” laws used for blacks?
This is just another example of where politicians play the demographics and pander to these groups (the majority is made up of minorities: old, young, crippled, blacks, Latino’s, homo’s, self perceived poor, Indian, Muslim, women who are actually a majority but viewed like a minority, Vets like myself...). Buying votes with other peoples money.
