President Biden plans to visit the southern border during the North American Leaders Summit in Mexico City next week — something that Biden has been resistant to during his presidency — but when asked why he finally decided now is the right time for a visit, Biden blamed the Republicans.
“Mr. President, why did you decide that now is finally the right time to visit the southern border? Republicans have been calling on you to do this since the beginning of your presidency,” a reporter asked Thursday after the president’s remarks on border security and enforcement.
Biden (replied): “Because the Republicans haven’t been serious about this at all. Come on. They haven’t been serious about this at all. I wanted to make sure that I knew what the outcome — at least the near outcome was on Title 42 before I went down. We don’t have that yet, so I had to operate — I don’t like Title 42, but it’s the law now, and I have to operate within it.” […]

1.)They’ve seen something in polling about the issue that threatens his re-election.
2.)Pressure from blue state Democrats suffering from the relentless influx of migrants.

I disagree with you, at least in part. While some Republicans have been serious, some have not. Is a majority of the Republican Senate Caucus serious?

They are not migrants. They are ILLEGALS. They did not migrate, they invaded our border, our sovereignty, and broke federal U.S. laws.
The real answer is that Democrat politicians have been begging loudly to take the border more seriously and he can’t deny them anymore.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott forced Biden’s hand. Too many people outside the border states are noticing the border crisis. That’s why Biden had to appear to take this seriously.

In all fairness, aside from Trump, no Republican president in my lifetime (starting with Nixon) has taken border security seriously. Both parties suck.
