Tammy Slaton‘s health took a turn for the worse during a teaser for the upcoming fourth season of the hit TLC series, 1000-lb. Sisters, obtained by PEOPLE. The trailer started off with Tammy, 36, announcing that she plans to go to rehab. The next clip showed an ambulance sitting outside a hospital with the lights on and sirens blaring. “Tammy quit breathing”, the voice of a worried family member said before her sister, Amy Slaton, added, “Her body shut down.”

Next, the trailer showed Tammy in a chipper mood after receiving a tracheotomy to help her with her breathing. “I’m still here, b—s!” she smiled. Amy announced in a since-deleted TikTok that the tracheotomy was for carbon dioxide poisoning, and not her weight, per Soap Dirt.

The trailer then followed Tammy’s ongoing struggle with her weight, and at one point, even showed her getting rejected by Dr. Eric Smith after she told him she’d like to be approved for bariatric surgery. “I told you Tammy, you have real risks,” he replied. Speaking out of concern, her bother, Chris, who was there for the appointment, added, “If she doesn’t get the surgery, she’s gonna die because of her weight.”

The trailer ended with footage of Tammy being loaded into an ambulance as her oxygen dropped. A voiceover of an emotional Amy expressed her worry that Tammy is “gonna end up dead.”

Aside from following her scary health situations, the trailer also showed a glimpse of Tammy falling in love at rehab. Her family was not shy to express their disapproval, with Amy saying she’s worried her sister will “go back into her old ways” if she gets into another “bad” relationship.

Fat shaming is the moral equivalent of..RRRACISM, they tell us. "Body positive" and fat acceptance groups actually believe the cause of premature death among the obese is the "pressure" society puts on them to lose weight, not any medical conditions caused by their own lifestyles. They're just as delusional as the "frozen vegetables" who think they can change genders with chopadickoffames or addadicktomes.
Victor Buono used to joke around about his weight Not to mention The Honeymooners with all the gags about Ralph Kramdem's weight, "boy, Ralph how can someone so round be so SQUARE!' Anyone with any sense knew they were just joking.

Fat shaming may or may not be a form of racism, but “fat acceptance” is definitely accepting and promoting early death

These days, the circus freaks come to your home through your television and the ringmasters make even more money.

Um... just how fat is she? 1,000 lb sisters so she’s 500 of that? That is beyond morbidly obese.

Who is feeding these 1000 pounders? They are surely not walking down to the local grocery store to restock their daily chow down.

Show is nothing more than a televised carnival freak show.

Indeed - most of these ‘XXXX lb whatever’ shows appear to be morbid betting opportunities.

There’s a surcharge, because over 26,000 lb vehicles require a Commercial Driver’s License.

Apparently she has lost some weight (again).

This is her "normal" appearance on the show:

This is how she looked on Dec. 26th, 2022:

During my TV-owning days I sometimes watched these reality shows about the travails of the super morbidly obese as they sought bariatric surgery. I found my interest was purely prurient; I felt no sympathy whatsoever for the subjects. And yes, without exception they relied on friends and family to deliver the massive quantities of food they ate. (Most of them were immobile or very nearly so.) And the food they gorged on was almost entirely junk food, fast food, etc., all washed down with soda pop or their favorite “sports drink” — essentially sugar water. It was never made clear how they paid for all this, but most were drawn from the lower ranks of society, so perhaps they were receiving welfare or food stamps.

TLC has changed from “The Learning Channel” to the 3F channel-Fatties, Freaks, and Fiancees.

Okay, *this* would be unrecognizable:

But it is noticeable, and a good thing for her. I hope she can keep it up.

I remember when TLC had shows like "The Mechanical Universe" that actually showed the math behind what is observable in our skies.

With that said, here is my absolute favorite YouTube video

What Exactly Are We Learning on The Learning Channel?

The super obese is not a weight issue so much as it’s a mental health issue. If you watch the show, not only does she eat herself into the hospital but also drinks and vapes. I’ve watched more shows like My 600lb Life and I’ve seen to camps of the super obese. One is the over eater and lazy but the second group by large number are the mental health cases where it’s either severe depression or some other issue that just keeps people on the path of destruction. I’ve also watch Hoarders and you can see something similar. I’m always fascinated by people’s behaviors and why people do certain things. One big take away from all these behavioral issues come from the breakdown of the family, lack of purpose in ones life and the lack of a healthy peer group.

I notice that a disproportionate percentage of the women on my 600 lb. life were sexually abused as children. I think deep down they think that if they become too fat to be attractive to men they can prevent it from happening again. It’s so sad.

Could be but I think it’s purely stuffing the emotional pain. Today’s food is highly addictive to certain people. It releases a ton of feel good chemicals. I’ve seen men on that show say they love food more than sex. I’ve also read where food can be on the same level as porn addiction to some men, most preferring food over it. That kind of shocked me when I was read that because we are told in society that men are hard wired for sex. I guess that’s another myth busted. Perhaps humans are just hardwired to escape pain using any means necessary.
