Hey, look, everybody. Alvin Bragg is doing his job! Maybe Mr. District Attorney isn’t beyond embarrassment after all.
Well, sort of doing his job. After Bragg’s office finally requested bail be set for a notorious serial shoplifter, a Manhattan judge did so — and one-man crime wave Wilfredo Ocasio, 44, took a trip to Rikers Island.
Hard-pressed Manhattan retailers can be forgiven a smile, but there’s scant evidence that Ocasio’s long overdue detention reflects new prosecutorial policy.
More likely it’s that Ocasio, who has done hard time for rape and robbery, was just a felon too far for Bragg. The ex-con has been busted 33 times for shoplifting since late summer alone. He seems to specialize in boosting Duane Reade stores — he was arrested in one Monday — but really, who knows what else he’s been up to?
As for policy, this time Bragg got around New York’s ridiculously lax bail laws by artfully bundling Ocasio’s charges until, cumulatively, they warranted a bail request.

Video of arrogant shoplifting flash mob stealing “tens of thousands of dollars worth” of Louis Vuitton bags and thousands of dollars of other merchandise at a mall. Clearly showed the mall security guard with his back to the cell phone camera, doing nothing at all but a young woman sales person trying to slow one perp down (in vain).
Ms.Vargas concluded with a brief interview of a police analyst who said the mall guard “wouldn’t be able to tell if someone could hit him from behind or even shoot him if he had tried to interfere” and “we don’t suggest it is a good practice for employees to try to physically fight with the suspects” as they might get hurt. He said people are accepting of no punishment for rioters or shoplifters and this is more and more acceptable across the country.
Vargas concluded all the criminals got totally away and there are no suspects.
Infuriating to me. Anger inciting.
The trashy worthless American people now condone all this and just shrug it off? WHY? Fighting back by cops would mean lawsuits of the dainty woke morons? Probably.
Abdicating all duties of law enforcement? Ok, then I have a few things I want very badly to do but they are against old time tradition of following the laws. So I can be free now?
You know that’s what they want. In their mind it’s a twofer. Take out a thug, prosecute a law-abiding citizen.
