IF- Kevin McCarthy IS so bad of a pick, and I tend to agree... the Dems COULD cross over party lines and support him, WHICH would validate all of those trending against him. Having the Dems support him, would be the kiss of death, but it is doable in the parliamentary sense/process.

One particular Speaker race required 133 ballot votes, and took over 2 months to decide.

Nope. I think he McCarthy should stick to his guns, and let the chips fall where they may. Take it all the way to a floor vote and make them vote against him.

If he gets defeated by a floor vote, he should keep his name in and let them see if they can get to 218 with a different candidate.
