This is interesting as it discusses the remarkable complexity of Lebanese politics. It underlines that there are 'good' or 'bad' entities at play , just competing power blocks. The question is, are there any 'real' US interests involved. "Real' does not mean what the DOS or K Street narratives push. As it is, it appears Israel can keep Hezhbollah coralled and any real US interest would be to keep things as quiet as is reasonably possible in Lebanon and Syria in the wake of the US-Arab Spring project that led to fracturing Syria.

America’s Lebanese fantasy hits a road-bump Lebanon Notice how when the Democrats are in charge, things that go wrong are "America's" problem.

This author has a pretty simplistic view. Hezbollah does not have “absolute control in Lebanon.”
They are the most powerful player, but that is only because of a close alliance with the Christian factions. As in Syria the two groups have a common interest in keeping ISIS aligned Sunnis under control.
