The problem is that Trump isn't suing the Times or the Post. He's saying that they defamed him, but then, instead of suing them, he sues the Pulitzer Foundation. An odd choice.

Sure, the newspapers are used to getting sued for defamation. They have lawyers who are used to defending such cases. But the Pulitzer Foundation probably has enough money to get good defense counsel, too. They won't cave in and settle just to make the case go away. Trump might as well have just sued the papers while he was at it.
