Deadline for REAL ID extended, giving US air travelers a reprieve

(CNN) — If you've been sweating out that latest deadline for REAL ID required for US air travel, you're getting another reprieve. The US federal government has yet again delayed nationwide security requirements for driver's licenses and other identification cards, giving states more time to issue REAL IDs to residents. The identification requirements were expected to kick in this coming spring. But they will be delayed another two years until May 7, 2025. That's another 883 days away.

LOL. “W” Bush was president when the original Real ID “deadline” was set.

"Deadline for REAL ID extended, giving US air travelers illegal aliens a reprieve"

Fixed it.

States have been issuing real ids for years. This whole extension thing is to buy time until they can grant blanket citizenship to illegals. If the real id act were enforced now, it would bust 100s of thousands of illegals.

I have a passport, but that alone is not sufficient to get real ID in my state.

But anyone can get a drivers license and be voting eligible
(last time I checked)

Yes Bush was president. They keep delaying it because it would bust 100s of thousands of illegal aliens. Almost every real American citizen now has a valid REAL ID, even ghetto dwellers. REAL ID is almost on par with a passport.

I’ll never fly again so irrelevant anyway... But voting, well that’s another story.

Yup, these clowns are worried about a shoe bomber when we have thousands of terrorists mixed in with the invitation of 4,000,000 invasion of illegals coming in every year now.

This country is being run by the equivalent of modern day Keystone Cops.

Shoot… I just jumped through hoops to get mine. As I was doing so, however, I was thinking about all those persons of color who won’t be able to fly anymore because they don’t know how to get IDs… according to Democrats who are very much against voter ID. I had to pay over $30 for it too. Sucks for them I guess.

Why does it matter? “At this point, what difference does it make?”

Earlier this year they were letting illegal aliens use their arrest warrants as proof of identification, to fly.

I appreciate that they have drivers license or ID that have been verified for US citizens, but they should stop delaying implementation, or give it up.

Hurricane Mitch ‘refugees’ might go home before the first ‘Real ID’ requirements start.

States have been issuing real ids for years, and yet they are 1-3 years behind as well and plus your reality of illegals getting a new free license to go anywhere.

Apparently, if this rule, re real ids was put into effect, 1 Jan 2023, it could cost the airlines $ millions of $’s in lost fares/daily because we don’t have these damn real licenses, and many of us will never get one.

Also, a lot of illegals would not be flying in nor out.

The TSA accepts American passports as REAL ID.

Yes, but the Walgreens won't give you medicine with pseudoephedrine with a U.S. Passport as ID, because it doesn't have an address on it.

DANG! I had to do Real ID, first in Maryland, then in Florida. I’m not sure why it’s that difficult to do, unless certain states have a philosophical objection, which I understand completely.
