I would suspect an FBI infiltrator in the Proud Boys set up the meeting with the Proud Boys to slime them. The FBI is not your friend.

That was my first thought. McInnes' claim that he was trying to help Kanye doesn't really help. He gave him the Proud Boys soap box to broadcast his Nazi views. I have never considered the Proud Boys to be racist, but inviting Kanye, then using Nick Fuentes as a "moderator" is going to change their image. Now they either do some damage control or lose a lot of support on the right.
