Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said that congressional leadership is in “widespread agreement” that the lame-duck session of Congress should pass an omnibus spending bill.
On Tuesday, McConnell, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy met with President Joe Biden and discussed legislative priorities for the remainder of the year.
“We’re going to work together, to fund, I hope, work together to fund the government, COVID, and war in Ukraine,” Biden said. “All controversial and consequential issues.”

So am I. Calling him a turd is a libel of the word. POS suits him. We don’t want an omnibus. We want input into each spending bill.
Leadership wants this overspending, not the people.
I’d like to see the lame duck congress pass a nice support bill for Ukraine. Just to send a message to Russia that funding and weapons will continue until Russia withdraws from their land grab.
And if they don’t get the message, then the GOP can pass a third funding bill.
Elections matter. Except in the US Senate.

No, that one already passed months ago. The good news is that the bad news was all lies though. In NO sense will there be 87000 new IRS agents.

Before Obama took power, and the first year in power, the Federal government massively increased spending in many, many areas. They then used this ‘omnibus’ insanity to pile on more and more spending. Many Federal departments increased and then declared that the new, total spending increase level to be the baseline. When Pelousy became Speaker the first time, she closed her office door and created new spending / regulation legislation without the usual committee, subcommittee process that was used previously. Before Pelousy, for 6 decades, I remember following the news on how many bills (pieces of legislation) ‘made it out of the committee’ and would be voted on, or altered with the amendment process.
Pelousy threw all of that out. After a few chosen congressmen crafted a very large omnibus, continuation monstrosity, Pelousy would force each DemocRAT to vote for it. Anyone who balked at it was in danger of losing their next election. Pelousy and company held the massive purse strings on re-election funds.
Pelousy and the RATS would wait until Thanksgiving and Christmas to present the omnibus bill, stating, each time, the incredible urgency of passage. We have to pass it to find out what is in it. Read, discuss? Oh, the horror!
‘There is no time to read it’ Women, children, and old people need the money right now. The Drive-By Media would excoriate any politician that would bring up the fact that a large percentage of the spending is borrowed money that our children and grandchildren will be paying back for years.
All this is yet another reason and example of why Trump is such a danger to the status quo. Any interruption in the flow and increase of the trillions would be ‘catastrophic.’ DemocRATS might actually have to get a real job. I will never forget a San Francisco democRAT stating the truth about elections: If we don’t win, we don’t eat. Getting up every day and working for a living is anathema to these creeps.
Apparently “leadership” doesn’t give two craps what other members of congress or American citizens think. This omnibus spending bill IS the problem with government. Quite simply, a small number of “leaders” put together the omnibus bill. Everyone else in congress is left out of the discussions. The non-leaders are given the bill without enough time to read it and they are told to vote for it. That disenfranchises the vast majority of Americans. You have zero say through your representative because your representative has zero say.

Adam Smith said it well: “There is a lot of ruin in a nation.” He was observing that the road from decline to fall can take many years to travel. It is quite obvious that we are on that road. I think (hope) most Americans know that and would like to turn off that road. But these jackasses keep spending and spending and spending.

Hard to get the corruption out. But lots of people are fighting the good fight on the local levels.
