BEIJING, Nov 24 (Reuters) - China reported record high COVID-19 infections on Thursday, with cities nationwide imposing localised lockdowns, mass testing and other curbs that are fuelling frustration and darkening the outlook for the world's second largest economy.
The resurgence of infections, nearly three years after the pandemic emerged in the central city of Wuhan, casts doubt on investor hopes for China to ease its rigid zero-COVID policy soon, despite recent more targeted measures.

Zero Covid is impossible.
Their economy has been in deep shit for quite some time now.
They haven’t released their GDP numbers for three straight quarters.
This in conjunction with Bank of China, unrest, and their real estate issues.
Klaus Schwab and company don’t care about economic death. They are protected.
Same reason why the Pedophile in Chief, Biden, doesn’t really care. He is a multi-milliaire and damn the middle class.
No argument from me on that.
I’ve also heard issues with respect to Bank of England, Credit Suisse, and Deutsche Bank.
Real estate is out of control via BlackRock et al.
Diesel is super high, shipping and rail worker issues as well.
I don’t expect next year to be fun.
my state has all kinds of ‘target zero’ policies.
It allows them to spend unlimited amounts of money trying to reach their goal.
May be having widespread political unrest and they are using this to control it?🤔

The Chinese people were celebrating their superior response to Covid a year or two ago. They had a maskless outdoor pool part in Wuhan in August 2020. It was a source of great national pride, now replaced by lamentations upon viewing the healthy international crowds at the World Cup.
I don’t get this obsession with the zero covid? It’s killing their economy.

RECORD number of infections. Sounds like a lot, huh? Gosh the mainstream rags can spin a tale, but....
After almost three years of the dreadful, horrible, deadly, unstoppable, unsafe and ineffective "event," one learns of up-to-date numbers from a reputable, surely trustworthy and would-never-lie-to-us source that China has had "15,872 deaths" in a population of over a billion people. In THREE -- count 'em -- three years. Gosh.

That’s got to be the major motivation for this. One thing’s for sure, whatever the CCP is saying, they’re lying. Maybe some fraction of their policy actually is directed at some sort of COVID management, but there’s no way that’s the primary reason.
We saw Xi Jinping publicly remove one of his key rivals from the party congress just a few weeks ago, and the West decided “oh, I guess Xi has consolidated his power fully now”.
But these public displays of raw power don’t look like he’s confident that he’s got everything buttoned up. Maybe they’re in even worse economic trouble than people in the west have been thinking.
What’s next? A move on Taiwan?
