Democrat Thinks She Won Her Race, Turns Out It Was a Reporting Error and the Republican Actually Won
Western Journal ^ | November 16, 2022 | Joe Saunders

An Idaho Democrat who carried an endorsement from Planned Parenthood learned that the hard way last week after initial reports from election night showed she had won a state House seat that covers parts of three counties, only for one of the counties to learn that those initial reports were incorrect.

And the GOP came out on top after all.

According to the Idaho Capital Sun, a nonprofit outlet, Democrat Karma Metzler Fitzgerald at first appeared to have won the race for House District 26, Seat B, which represents parts of Blaine, Jerome and Lincoln counties in the south-central part of the Gem State.

The margin of victory in the district appeared to be 383 votes, the Capital Sun reported.

That didn’t last. Thanks to a technical glitch in the Jerome County elections system, the initial vote count was wrong.

When the counting was corrected, Republican Jack Nelsen triumphed by a total of 84 votes.

Well, shouldn’t a reporting error count? It is a democrat after all.

This would be (until/unless another recount steals it back for the Rats) a GOP pickup in the Idaho legislature. The district contains one of the worst parts of the state that isn’t an obvious ghetto — it’s the ultra-liberal Sun Valley area.

Without any exception that I am aware of, all well-known Rocky Mountain ski resort areas always vote solidly liberal, even if those areas are located smack dab in the middle of an otherwise “red” state like Utah, Idaho or Wyoming.

Long ago, an exception was Vail, Colorado, which was President Ford’s favorite getaway spot in contrast to nearby Aspen which has always been filled with ultra-liberal celebutards and hippie-dippy doper types. Unfortunately Vail isn’t much different from Aspen these days, at least in terms of its politics.

A PP supporter almost winning an election in Idaho is nothing to celebrate.

“Technical glitch” means a human was involved.

Yes but one of the few times this happened not in the Dems favor.

Only an 84 vote margin of victory in an Idaho County that went 73% for Trump in 2020 and hasn’t voted for a Democrat for President since FDR in 1936?

Something doesn’t add up.

For me the shocking thing in your post is the notion that Idaho has “obvious ghettos.” Definitely not the image I had of the state, but I guess every state has a few problem neighborhoods.

Boise has some areas which fit that description. You can tell by how they vote:

Ada County 2020 Presidential Election Results by Precinct

This site uses the party colors properly. Boise -- solid commie red -- is easily able to be identified on the map.

“...an Idaho County that went 73% for Trump in 2020 and hasn’t voted for a Democrat for President since FDR in 1936?

Blaine County (Sun Valley, Hailey, Ketchum), which appears to contain most of the voters in this particular state House district, voted 67% AGAINST Trump in 2020 and hasn’t voted GOP for President since 1988.

It adds up.
