Oregon gun sales skyrocket after voters approve Measure 114

Oregon voters narrowly passed Measure 114 this midterm election, which will require permits and firearms training before new gun purchases and ban high-capacity magazines. The Oregon Secretary of State's office said that it will take effect in just over three weeks — on Thursday, December 8. . . . . .

OSP said that during the week of the election alone, there were over 18,000 transactions. As a result, there's now a considerable backlog for these background checks on people trying to buy guns. There was a big backlog right after COVID-19 restrictions took effect in early 2020, and it fluctuated for two years before finally being eliminated over this summer. It spiked again just before the election, and has been blasting off to the moon ever since — forming a near-vertical line on OSP's graph.

So now Oregon is going to claim people need proof of training to exercise their other rights such as voting?

The Right of The People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

And if this measure passes the courts, Oregon will follow up with requiring a permit to post online.

Gun owners sure are predictable - way too many don't vote, and won't send $5 to pro-gun candidates (or even worse, they support "gun grabber" D@mocrats). But, boy howdy, can they ever turn out to pay sky-high prices for stuff they should've already owned, after another ban passes or some kind of 'emergency' is declared...

Are the gun owners the ones voting for this? From my reading of the article
Oregon voters narrowly passed Measure 114 this midterm election
I thought it was a measure directly voted for by the actual voters not their elected representatives

Rights aren’t subject to votes by the people or their elected representatives.

This was on the ballot by initiative petition. I think plenty of Fudds voted for it. Tragic.

Correct - I was referring to the mechanism by which the measure became law. I was not endorsing the tyranny of the majority.

I agree that a number of the hunting types have their heads firmly implanted in their anal orifices. I used to work a table for the Georgia Gun Owners org at the Buckarama (a hunting show in GA) and found that most of the hunters weren’t interest in “assault rifles” Frequent response was “they’re not interested in my guns.” and “you don’t need those guns for hunting”

Solution: Move to a gun-rights state, force out anti-2nd Amend. folks(to places like Oregon)AND repeat offender/illegal-domestic criminal element.

Throw in some(Eric Holder-type)weapons...

...then sit back and watch the carnage.

(Utopia!...it' a cookbook!)

Maybe. But that has nothing to do with 2A. I never paid attention to AR rifles until they told me I couldn't have one. And BTW, they will be coming for those "sniper rifles" next.

Better to overturn this in the courts.

Section 27 of Article 1 of the Oregon Constitution says, "The people shall have the right to bear arms for the defence of themselves, and the State, but the Military shall be kept in strict subordination to the civil power."

That’s what they thought - not sure if they’re still that dumb, but since GA is trending more Democrat I’d say the average voter id getting dumber

I couldn't get the hunters I talked to to make that connection.

You don’t need approval from anyone to exercise your rights..

This will be struck down by the courts.

It is true, that’s the very definition of a right.

This “law” will never survive the courts
