BREAKING: Republicans join Democrats to pass same-sex ‘marriage’ bill in massive defeat for conservatives

Twelve Republican senators joined with all Democrats to pass the bill, which is set to be Joe Biden's first major legislative achievement on LGBT issues.

(LifeSiteNews) – In perhaps the greatest defeat conservatives have ever suffered at the hands of Republican Party, the Senate today advanced Democrats’ bill to enshrine same-sex “marriage” into federal law in a vote of 62 to 37.

Twelve Republican senators joined with all Democrats to pass the bill, the “Respect for Marriage Act,” including: Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Rob Portman of Ohio, Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Roy Blunt of Missouri, Richard Burr of North Carolina, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Joni Ernst of Iowa, Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, Dan Sullivan of Alaska, and Todd Young of Indiana.

Democrats needed the support of 10 Republicans to clear the Senate’s 60-vote filibuster threshold.

Today’s vote came despite the objections of many of the most prominent conservative groups in the U.S., including the Heritage Foundation, Alliance Defending Freedom, the Family Research Council, thousands of Christian churches and institutions, and the overwhelming majority of Republican voters who oppose federal legislation to codify homosexual “marriage.”

The Respect of Marriage Act makes same-sex “marriage” the law of the land, ensuring that all 50 states must recognize such unions, regardless of state laws, in the event the Supreme Court overturns its 2015 decision, Obergefell v. Hodges, which mandates legal recognition of same-sex “marriage” nationwide.

This law will do MUCH more, or will be used to do much more, than it claims to do. Expect massive suppression and punshishment of religious liberty as a result.

It's like I posted yesterday:

Watch McConnell and the Senate Republicans behavior over the next six months.

Their MO is to turn their backs on their voters right after an election. Voters are hyper-sensitized right now to how the "red wave" was stolen. If they suspect that the Republicans in the Senate are happy with the outcome, if they suspect that the Senate Republicans are working with the Democrats to pass their agenda instead of fighting and obstructing at each and every opportunity, then support for President Trump will grow like a wildfire.

People say that Trump can't control his impulses. Well, the same can be said for our Senate Republicans. Let's watch and see if they reach out to their base to explain what happened and how they're changing it for next time, or see if they go back to business as usual without another thought about what just happened. I'm betting on the latter.

It will be Mitch Mconnell and Lindsey Graham who drive the voters back to President Trump.

It didn't take even one day for them to revert to their natural form.

And everyone who thinks voting for someone just because they have an “R” beside their name is winning.

It is the illegitimate result of an illegitimate election(s) on 2020. Georgia was stolen.

There’s a group of Republican senators , who for whatever reason, wanted to bend over backwards to prove that they are liberal.

But the media and liberals who praise their so-called liberal stand today, will go back to hating them tomorrow on some other issue. They think that by appeasing the liberal somehow this will put them in good standing with the New York Times another media and Democrats. But appeasing the Liberals just does not work.

I suspect Pope Francis is happy, along with the leaders of the ELCA, the PCUSA, the United Methodists, the American Baptist Convention, and the UCC. God has an alternate view.

Unconstitutional. Not an enumerated power, so no federal jurisdiction over this. It is solely a states rights issue.

Just a feel good measure for libs. Not gonna change anything. The SCOTUS isn’t going to reverse their approval of gay marriage. I wish the bill had failed, but I’ve about used up my quota of aggravation over the election, just don’t have the energy to get too upset over this nonsense.

And yet nearly all church leaders will remain stupid and ignorant about how we “don’t do politics.”

I’m very close to quitting mine because the leadership is willfully ignorant.
