Right moment I can see pictures of my mom and grandmother (born in mid 1920s and 1890s) and neither of them were even remotely that big, not even close

My great grandmother was quite portly. Here she is around 1928 on the family farm in either Creston, British Columbia or in Idaho. I'm amazed that a relatively poor family in that era could have enough food for a person to get so fat.

My grandfather is the young man in the back row on the right.

Everybody else in the family was thin. Great grandfather was born in 1880 and great grandmother was born in 1884. I never met either of them.
