Women were smaller in the past, obese women like these two wouldn't live very long due to substandard health care. Go to any museum with clothes from the 1800's and look at the size of the waists, most women were tiny back then and the men not much bigger. They didn't work out and weren't as muscular as today, but they also didn't have all the body fat hanging on them that today's women have.
Show me a woman that's idolized today with 3% body fat. A female bodybuilding freak taking testosterone that looks like a man will be 8-9% body fat. Most women that look good in a bikini today are going to be in the 18-20% body fat range.
Right moment I can see pictures of my mom and grandmother (born in mid 1920s and 1890s) and neither of them were even remotely that big, not even close
