In january 2020 I thought the same thing, but covid was the killer, in more ways than one.
Any Democrat would have told you in January 2020 that Trump was cruising to re-election. COVID came like Manna from Heaven for the Democrats.
And that's precisely the Democrat/RINO/MSM mantra as follows:

The treasonous traitor Trump was done in by his completely inept response to covid and his treasonous traitorous ways. Thus, American voters, it's all Trump's fault that he lost - we Democrats/RINOs/MSM/BLM/Antifa/Corporate America/Academia/Hollyweird had absolutely nothing to do with treasonous Trump's embarrassing loss to "the most popular President in American history, the honorable Joe Biden, with more than 81 Million votes!" Even worse, the treasonous traitor Trump tried to steal the election and he treasonously led the January 6 Republican insurrection against the U.S. Capitol. Worse than that, the traitor Trump continues his "Big Lie" that he won the election. Also, Trump stole our nation's most classified nuclear secrets to sell to Russia.

That's the Democrat/RINO argument in a nutshell. IMHO, the Democrats/RINOs obviously stole the election and it's as clear as day. There is literally no way that a senile Sleepy Joe puppet Manchurian Candidate is "the most popular President in American history with over 81 Million votes." Literally impossible. The senile Sleepy Joe puppet hid in his basement during his entire Presidential "campaign," only rarely emerging to cluelessly mangle his handlers' teleprompter speech in practically empty parking lots.
Anyone who thinks the 2020 election wasn't stolen really needs to wake up to political reality. Democrats/RINOs wanted the hugely successful & hugely popular President Trump ejected from the Oval Office and so that's what they did, regardless of the wishes of the American electorate.
It's painfully obvious.
