‘Rightwing Echo Chamber:’ Elon Musk Bashes Donald Trump’s Truth Social
Breitbart ^

Tesla CEO Elon Musk bashed former President Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform, calling it “essentially a rightwing echo chamber,” adding, “it might as well be called Trumpet.” The two have been feuding with Trump labeling the social media hypemaster a “bullshit artist” at a July rally.

In a recent interview with Financial Times, Musk talked about why he wants to buy Twitter, stating, “I’m not doing Twitter for the money.”

“It’s not like I’m trying to buy some yacht and I can’t afford it. I don’t own any boats. But I think it’s important that people have a maximally trusted and inclusive means of exchanging ideas and that it should be as trusted and transparent as possible,” he added.

“Twitter is certainly an invitation to increase your pain level,” Musk acknowledged, adding, “I guess I must be a masochist.”

But abandoning Twitter to create separate social media platforms, Musk says, would mean splintering public debate into different bubbles, which he believes Trump’s Truth Social is doing.

“It [Truth Social] is essentially a rightwing echo chamber,” Musk said. “It might as well be called Trumpet.”

Musk has already said Trump needs to step aside for DeSantis.

This guy is a welfare queen who got all his money from subsidies. Don't be fooled by a few words he says to try to get Republicans to buy his Tesla tin boxes.

“Translation: I want Trump on Twitter so I make more money.”

That is how I see it.

And this is the part of Musk I detest.

The remaining Progressive stran that runs through his mind and soul.

He’s not completely wrong. Lots of right-wingers went to TS when they realized they were banned or would be banned on other social media. If he proves he won’t do the same when he’s in charge of twatter then more power to him.

Musk should own twit, he is one.
He is a driving force behind the destruction of our domestic energy infrastructure and freedom to travel, he can FOAD.

Liberals said if you don’t like being censored then build your own website. So conservatives had no alternative and did so.

Now they get criticism for the exact opposite reason.

This is criticism for criticism’s sake.

The difference is no one on Truth Social is censored because of “wrong thinking”. Musk is not one of us. He is left of center at best.

He is correct regarding the “echo chamber” part.

He has a point about the echo chamber. Not like we had much choice, once you’re driven off Twitter you have to go where you won’t be censored. But then you’re mainly seen by people who already agree with you.

I see it with You Tube. A lot of the good ones were forced over to Rumble, but the biggest audience is still on YouTube. I wish Musk would do a takeover on YouTube.

“This guy is a welfare queen who got all his money from subsidies.”

That’s a lie.

Let this be a lesson for people to stay off twitter even after Musk takes over. Musk does not even mention that twitter is nothing but a leftist sounding board for communists.

Hopefully, he won’t hurt TS.
I can see Musk’s move was done to destroy TS and, then when it is gone, resume the old policy of banning conservatives from Twitter again.

Not surprising as Twitter is in competition with Truth Social. And he’s not wrong about TS being an echo chamber, ideally there should be a platform where both Left and Right can freely express their opinions and debate each other. But until that happens, people have no choice but to go where they won’t be censored.

A lot of conservative YouTubers say the same thing as Musk: alternates to YouTube are often echo chambers.

A lot of these conservatives keep their YouTube channels with milder content so that normies still have a chance to view their content and maybe follow them to one of the alternative platforms.

The libertarian idea that "well just build your own" doesn't work if most people stay on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.

I fear that there really is no solution. There are only three ways to afford the computing power necessary to maintain a true competitor to the current social media giants:

- Membership Fee
- Ad revenue
- Generous Billionaire

People are so used to getting things for free that if they have a choice between something that is free or something with a membership fee, they will choose the free option.

If a platform is labeled by "fact checkers" as too rightwing, then woke corporations (i.e. all major corporations) will not put their ads on it. Instead you'll be limited to investment scams, vitamin scams, prepper food, etc.

Finally, most "generous billionaires" are more libertarian like Musk than conservative. They might also be more leery of hosting truly conservative content if they start thinking "you know I could actually turn a profit on this if I deleted that content".

Musk has already said Trump needs to step aside for DeSantis.

Except Musk never said that. Musk merely said he'd support DeSantis. He never said Trump should not rub in 2024,

This guy is a welfare queen who got all his money from subsidies

Nonsense.
Just how much “subsidies” did PayPal get?
And how much subsidies is Tesla getting today? Tesla stoped getting EV subsidies 2 years ago, even as other EV companies keep getting them.

The problem is that any platform that isn’t moderated will eventually be bombed with neo-Nazi content and such, mainly from Leftist provacateurs who want that platform shut down.

Musk has to walk a fine line, folks on the Left basically accuse him of being a “Right Winger”.

A businessman these days has to play it as close to the middle as possible.
