Here’s who is not eligible for Biden’s marijuana pardon
CNN ^ | October 8, 2022 | Maegan Vazquez and Aditi Sangal

President Joe Biden announced on Thursday that he’s pardoning individuals charged with simple marijuana possession on a federal level, but his decision does not affect broad groups of Americans and non-citizens charged with the crime.

There’s historical precedent for mass application of the presidential pardon power, but the sheer size of Biden’s pardon list stands out among most recent predecessors. The White House estimates “6,500 people with prior federal convictions” and “thousands of such convictions under (Washington, DC) law could benefit from this relief.”

From the article:

Biden said that “no one should be in jail just for using or possessing marijuana.”

However, the second-to-last line is key:

"The administration official speaking to reporters on Thursday said that 'there are no individuals currently in federal prison solely for simple possession of marijuana.'"

The States are another matter, though it’s generally overstated. Biden’s getting a lot of miles out of doing nothing IMHO.

His puppeteers will first have to run the pardon scam by Harris for the usual equity BS. Also, any truth to the rumor that applications for the pardon ask the convicts if they will promise to vote democrat?

Possession of pot is not a crime that will get you a federal jail sentence. Possession of pot is something that would give the FBI probable cause. And it can be a lessor charge that people can plea to. But normally the pot possession charge is an easy minor charge for the feds. If you get rid of that, which I don’t care about. But if you do, there will be lying to the FBI or mail fraud or numerous other charges that help the FBI break the law. I assume nobody will get out of jail because of this pardon. A sentence may be reduced. But that is it. The FBI is not in the business of arresting people for a joint.

“The move also is not expected to remove any individuals from prison.”

You are correct.

I just had to laugh at how his own officials contradict him. That quote is always appropriate for whatever he does or announces.

Not a lot of people in prison for smoking a doobie in a National Park.

Of course his nutbag base doesn’t understand any of it.

I wonder if he’s buying to make it legal for government employees and Military to use marijuana? It just strikes me as odd... unless it’s strictly a political shell game for the upcoming midterms... which could very well be.

How can anyone be guilty of simple marijuana possession at the federal level? Was he smoking it with one foot in one state and the other foot in another? Was he smoking it while driving across a state border?

This is yet another case where RINOs pretend to be tough on crime by taking something which should be handled at the state level and turning it into a federal offense.

I'm beginning to think that we should even repeal the Mann Act and just encourage each state involved to separately charge the criminals and then have them serve consecutive prison sentences.

The corrupt media is saying that thousands will be freed. They can always be counted on to give unqualified support to the dictator in chief.

It’s AOK to smoke weed.

But if you protest stolen elections or pray Rosary against baby killing,
Go To Jail. No Trial for that either.

“The administration official speaking to reporters on Thursday said that ‘there are no individuals currently in federal prison solely for simple possession of marijuana.’”

That was my first thought. Simple MJ possession is not a federal offense. Take it across state line and it is. But then it is no longer a simple possession.

State prosecutors often use possession as a plea deal because the accused will want avoid a federal charge.
