Ukraine isn’t getting into NATO.
The only ones seriously talking about this are the Ruskies. It takes every NATO country to agree on admission. And that isn’t happening.

Ukraine isn’t getting fast tracked in like Finland and Sweden. Everyone knows this, including China and the author of this piece. But they will apply again after the war is over and likely be given a Membership Action Plan (MAP). Once they complete that plan, probably 5+ years after the war ends, they will get in.

Lynchpin my patootie. NATO has already gone FAR beyond its original charter. If ‘Europe’ wants protection, let them form their own treaty alliance within themselves and leave the US out of it. If NATO expansion isn’t stopped the next thing you’ll see is a farther eastern country like India try to join and that will really piss off the Chinese.

As China reaches for the world, and Russia seeks to rebuild its empire and starts the biggest European war since WWII, now is not the time to cancel our military alliances and quit training with and cooperating and coordinating with allies.
Be kind of like if the Warsaw Pact was still intact and Mexico wanted to join. I’m sure we’d roll out the welcome mat.

If Ukraine does join NATO, it will be after the conflict is over.
The same people who ridicule the Russian military as incompetent and poorly trained, have no issue with pivoting in their next breath to say: “Russia wants to be the USSR again and is able to march straight through Warsaw, Berlin, and Paris (unless US taxpayers fork over 2 Trillion dollars”.
Ukraine in NATO would help stabilize Europe and bring peace by removing a lynchpin that Russia needs to rebuild the evil empire.

I’ve always thought Ukraine was a great buffer between Russia and NATO and because of that never really wished that they would join.
Russia has been doing a great proving to me that I was wrong.
