I'm a British patriot and I'd never shirk a fight. But as we edge closer to nuclear war, why ARE we stoking conflict in Ukraine rather than trying to achieve peace, asks PETER HITCHENS

Yesterday the Chinese foreign minister came out for Ukraine

China wants this over. And China is calling the shots. At their Samarkand meeting Xi told Putin to wrap it up. Hence the sham elections.

Neither China nor Russia are out to conquer the USA . Why would they want to ? But Neocons in USA who believe in hegemonism / globalism see these 2 powers as a huge obstacle to what they want to achieve .

“FYI...... Yesterday the Chinese foreign minister came out for Ukraine”

Without sanctions, it’s meaningless...just a statement.

By the same token we spent ten years and 58000 American lives in Vietnam as we were told if we didn’t stop the communists there the dominoes would fall all across Asia.

It turned out to be a civil war and our side lost anyway.

Nearly the same thing just happened in Afghanistan.

Nothing cowardly or unpatriotic about taking a step back in Ukraine. In fact its wise.

The British deep state despises Russia for how deeply and completely the Soviets had infiltrated their government from pre-WW2 to the Cold War, and the fact the Cambridge Five spy ring were from the upper classes...including a relative of the royal family.

Its that burden of national shame and guilt that animates the British elites Russo-phobic behavior...and Ukraine is just the latest vehicle through which that dysfunction is expressed.

You won the internet today..

It’s the uniparty here in DC along with the WEF ilk in the EU pushing for the reason of the great reset along with racking in millions..

Ask why..

For me it’s all built on the 17th Amendment... it allows the parties to have concentrated power and large donors to have outsized influence...

It’s time to repeal the 17th Amendment and eliminate the Senior Executive Service.

When I see people like you join in on the leftist buzzword of the day, I know I'm standing true.

Think the covid lockdowns were tough? Just wait until there is radiation and fallout over large swathes of Europe. We will have NO freedom.

And before the Soviets, it was the Nazis. And lo and behold, the Ukrainian government is filled with neo Nazis.

Peter Hinchens a patriot?

Did not serve in the military.

Flitted about politically among the Socialists, Labour and Conservatives. Now calls himself an English Gaullist, whatever that’s supposed to mean.

He’s never met a war he didn’t oppose. This includes even WWII. Putin is evil, but he pales before Hitler.

He calls for the abolition of Britain.

He must gag when Brits sing

Rule Britannia, Britannia rule the waves
We will never, never, never be slaves

Like so many other intellectuals, he thinks war will be over when somebody conquers the entire world (because nobody resists), wishing and hoping that the conqueror will be a good guy.

This is such a naive view it would be laughable, if it weren’t so dangerous. If there were many Peter Hitchens, Brits would be slaves, as would everybody else.

He served in the same division as Trump.

Actually, you are wrong. China sent a clear message to Vladimer Putin

“Don’t count on China to bail you out”

Stoking conflict has always been with us. Iran/Iraq. Think letting Germany and Russia carve each other up before the Normandy invasion. There is something to be said for letting your enemy bleed as much as possible. It becomes more than a teachable moment. Russia our enemy? They are some pretty disgusting people when you take into account the nations paranoia. They simply need to pay a price and giving military aid is no different than the opportunism they took advantage of when they supplied our enemy in Viet Nam. The critics are afraid Putin will up the ante. Even more teachable as Japan learned.
