The special master appointed to review documents federal agents seized at Donald Trump’s Florida estate has given the former president until next Friday to back up his allegation that FBI planted evidence in the search on Aug. 8.
Following the FBI search of his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Trump and his lawyers have publicly insinuated on multiple occasions without providing evidence that agents had planted evidence during the search. “Planting information anyone?” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform Aug. 12.
In an filing Thursday, Senior U.S. District Judge Raymond J. Dearie of New York, the court-appointed special master, ordered the government to turn over copies of all non-classified items seized in the case to Trump's lawyers by Monday.
He then ordered Trump's team to submit a "declaration or affidavit" of any items in the inventory that were removed from Mar-a-Lago that the "Plaintiff asserts were not seized from the Premises," meaning items that were put there by someone else.
Dearie also asked Trump's lawyers to identify any items that were seized by agents but not listed in the inventory. "This submission shall be Plaintiff’s final opportunity to raise any factual dispute as to the completeness and accuracy of the Detailed Property Inventory," the judge wrote.
Both sides were ordered to appear for a status conference in the case on Oct. 6.

Well, turn over what was taken so he can see.
However, it looks like Trump’s advisers have convinced him to go along with another loser. Makes one wonder, when will Trump fire all his advisers?
In related news, Trump’s advisers are recommending that he enlist adam schiff as his running mate for 2024. It is thought that schiff’s positive relationship with the MSM might defrost the MSMs attitude toward Trump.
I thought it was the seriousness of the allegation that mattered?
If his lawyers alleged it in a court filing then yes, they’d best have an argument to back it up. On the other hand if it’s about Trump saying they could have done so in a tween on truth social then that’s not an allegation before the special master and him asking about is potentially sort of ominous (I.e. he’s fishing for reasons to discredit Trump rather than just selerating out the material seized beyond the scope of the warrant).

Oh come on. There is absolutely nothing to be gained by trying to watch what you say with respect to people willing to twist your words to any extent.

He doesn’t have to back it up you tool. The FBI has to prove they DIDN’T.
They excluded his attorney, they demanded cameras be shut off, they refuse to let his see what they took. This special master is a joke. Blow him off.
He is trying to trap Trump into saying what he declassified before the FBI will reveal what they took. If Trump does that, they can easily slip in one more thing and trap him.
Better to let them make their case, have Trump explain it was declassified. They cannot prove differently and the Supreme court will back this up. Then he wins 2024 in a landslide.
If they lock him up somewhere, America needs to storm the Bastille.

Nope, they carried out boxes and boxes. Something can and was easily inserted back at HQ where nobody was filming.
The fact that the FBI wouldn’t let anyone at Mar-a-Lago observe their searches, and that they ordered them to turn off their cameras (which they didn’t) should be enough to raise questions about the actions that were taken by the agents who conducted the search. If you chase everyone off, and don’t want your activities to be filmed, I’d say that’s proof enough they were up to no good.
I’m missing something... I understand the order but how in a practical way is this supposed to work?
- Who exactly made up the inventory list?
- Should this order mean that the entire collection of documents has to be returned to PDJT and his lawyers to scrutinize page by page?
- Dearie refers to the “Detailed Property Inventory” but what is that? Is that just the list of the names of the files? What does agreeing or disagreeing with that list prove? What if there is a 100 page file that has had some additional sticky notes attached to them? How is that reflected in the inventory?
- How can Dearie prove that there was a sufficient chain of custody such that something that was planted wasn’t subsequently removed?
It was a question, not an allegation.
