The news of municipal deputies from Russian districts signing a petition demanding Putin resigns was shared by Ksenia Torstrem, a member of the St. Petersburg municipality Semenovsky, who published the statement on Twitter.

She urged other municipal deputies to join the statement.

“We, the municipal deputies of Russia, believe that the actions of President V. V. Putin are detrimental to the future of Russia and its citizens.”

“We demand Vladimir Putin’s resignation as President of the Russian Federation!” reads the text of the petition, signed by about 20 deputies.

All that’s left is for the Battleship Aurora to fire on The Winter Palace.

Do they instead want someone who is prepared to nuke DC and London?

Meanwhile...

We can confirm that reports of explosions near Belgorod are true. Russian sources claim that Ukraine has launched multiple attacks across the border.

Long lines of cars can be seen fleeing Belgorod

MSM outlets reported 18 Municipal Districts called for this but there are 1,673 municipal districts in Russia.

18 is therefore just barely over 1%.

“Just 18 out of over 1600.”
It’s not that they are a majority but that there are any. Even low to mid level Russian politicians understand the risks of coming out against Putin.
The obvious question is why are they doing it? Do they believe Putin is vulnerable?

Well, Yeltsin was sent on an all expense paid honeymoon with Lukashenko and Kuchma to Israel. When he got back, Putin was in charge.

Wonder where Putin can go.

Are the Ukrainians actually having troops enter Russia? Or are they just taking advantage that their advances have brought Russian logistic’s hubs in Russian territory within conventional artillery range and continuing to blast at Putin’s weak link. Ukrainians promised not to use our high tech longer range artillery to attack Russian territory, but now they are in range of the kind of conventional tube artillery both sides possess and which Putin had used heavily against them (while his cold war ammo stockpiles had lasted.) Putin could pull his ammo dumps back farther to avoid this, counting on the Uke’s not wanting to risk expanding things further. However, IIRC Putin’s rail net’s major N/S lines are just east of the border and he can’t move them. Since his best logistics are by rail serially cutting those lines—even if they can keep being patched—will impact most supplies locally and further south.

Or in keeping with the past 20 years, there’s been a few in Russia that take Putin on from time to time but nothing ever comes of it.

“The obvious question is why are they doing it? Do they believe Putin is vulnerable?”

Probably a huge variety of reasons. Despite whatever their reason some are brave, some are suicidal, and some are just stupid. I’m reminded of the Moscow woman writer and commentarist on state TV who regularly talked and wrote about the bad things Putin was doing. One day she opened her door to see who had knocked and the man shot her in the head and walked away. Her friends were outraged. I was thinking the woman must have had an IQ lower than the temperature in a coal mine in winter. Who could be raised in Russia and think it was safe to criticize Putin? The only thing dumber would be to let Hillary Clinton know you had the evidence to send her to prison.
