Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch said that the court's investigation into the leaker of the opinion that overruled Roe vs. Wade could be completed soon.

Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch said that an investigation into the leak of a draft opinion overturning Roe vs. Wade could be completed soon. File photo by Erin Schaff/UPI Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch said that an investigation into the leak of a draft opinion overturning Roe vs. Wade could be completed soon.

Speaking at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit's semiannual Bench & Bar Conference in Colorado, Gorsuch said the leak was a threat to the judicial decision-making process.

"Improper efforts to influence judicial decision-making, from whatever side, from whomever, are a threat to the judicial decision-making process and inhibit our capacity to communicate with one another," Gorsuch said.

A draft version of the ruling in Dobbs vs. Jackson Women's Health Organization was leaked in May to Politico. That draft showed that the court would vote to overturn Roe, which it ended up doing. The decision returned the issue of abortion to the states.

If it was leaked from the Left, the person will get a slap on the wrist.

If the leaker was a conservative, they will join the J6 prisoners until the end of time.

Why is it perfectly fine for the DOJ and FBI to leak constantly but if the Supreme Court leaks an opinion a day ahead of time its a crime against humanity?

The Court today announced that Jeffrey P. Minear will retire from his position as Counselor to the Chief Justice of the United States, effective September 30, 2022. Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., appointed Mr. Minear to that position in 2006, following Mr. Minear’s previous government service in the Office of the Solicitor General of the United States, where he argued 56 cases before the Supreme Court.

The Counselor is charged by statute with performing “such duties as may be assigned to him by the Chief Justice.” In that role, Mr. Minear has served as the Chief Justice’s chief of staff, working closely with Court officers on Court-wide policies and initiatives. He has supported the Chief Justice as head of the federal judiciary, working in partnership with court executives and judges on matters of judicial administration, and as liaison to the executive and legislative branches on issues affecting the Court.
Additionally, he has represented the Chief Justice in relations with judicial organizations, foreign courts, and visiting dignitaries. He has also supported the Chief Justice in his non-judicial responsibilities, including as Chancellor of the Smithsonian Institution.

The Chief Justice said: “Jeff Minear has exemplified the finest tradition of Court staff, enabling the Supreme Court, and courts across our country, to serve the public efficiently and effectively. He has brought deep knowledge, outstanding judgment, and a tireless work ethic to court management and improvement. I am grateful for the many years he has served so well as my Counselor and as an officer of Federal judicial administration.

Counselor Minear said: “I have been profoundly honored to support Chief Justice Roberts and his colleagues, on the Supreme Court and throughout our federal judiciary, in their vitally important work. I am departing the office with appreciation for the opportunity, with esteem for each member of the Supreme Court, and with the utmost confidence in the independence and integrity of our courts.”

Mr. Minear plans to remain active in the legal profession and in support of the Court and judiciary. His successor will be announced in due course.

If it was Minear, then Roberts being the leaker (advocate, at least) was the correct assumption.

There are 9 Justices, 36 clerks, a Clerk Of The Court, various stenographers and probably a few others. Maybe they’ll say who the leaker was, but it seems like a long shot.

Frustrating, but when you’ve got probably 50 or more people who are possible leakers it may not be possible to find the source.

I agree and that person will be treated like a hero by the left including the MSM.

You had better hope it wasn’t Roberts.

“If it was Minear, then Roberts being the leaker (advocate, at least) was the correct assumption.”

At that level, coincidence, doesn’t really happen.

There are no surprises or coincidences at that level of the Supreme Court where every comma, period, exclamation mark are approved before any real release.

Whoever leaked this, will be employed for interviews and TV political talk shows for years on ABCNNBCBS/FOX to discuss why they really did it.

If anybody but Alito claimed this, I’d agree. As far as I know, Alito doesn’t blow smoke up people’s butt.

If the leaker was a conservative, a SWAT team will show up at their house with mass media cameras in tow.
