There used to be an FR site on Yahoo originally, but that closed down quite a while ago. I always went there if this site was inaccessib!e. Never joined Fascistbook, Twatter, etc. Briefly did Parler, Gab and Truth Social, once they opened access via the web, but found nothing redeeming about any of them, so deleted them all. I’m really not a social media type person. I get nothing out of them...for me they’re just a waste of my precious time.
Time for a Gab group for a backup.
I joined that group a couple of years ago, only to find that the other members were constantly sharing negative news stories and opinions that I couldn’t ignore, because they all appeared on my Facebook wall. Therefore, to save my sanity, I left the FR group, after two or three weeks.
On the other hand, I have done all right with the FR group on MeWe.
Probably because the FBI told them FR is a fascist MAGA page and FR is a threat to our Country’s democracy.
I’m shocked they didn’t do it ten years ago.
I have facebook completely blocked on my computer (and google etc.); would have to edit my hosts file to even go there, so it has been years since I looked there at all, and even then only when I couldn’t access the actual FR website.
Can’t understand why any conservative or libertarian would use it, and enrich evil people even further.
Don’t go on FB - they are the enemy.

I have no Facebook account…nor any other. I was banned by Twitter the same day my president was banned and 1000’s of others. I was in shock. It is stunning to have a rag stuffed in your mouth for saying what you’re thinking. I had never even used profanity. I was never a threat. I didn’t engage Liberals. But….there I was….zapped. It hurt.
I tried all the other social media outlets but I had been married too darn long to be happy elsewhere. The one constant in my life for over 20 years has been FR.
Everyday. Although my name didn’t show up on the donor list this time for some reason, I understand. I would give more per quarter if I could. Free Republic is important. Everyone should give.

I miss talking with old Army buddies but I don’t miss the liberals, especially family members.

If FR outages were the only reason to go there one could ask is My Space still functioning? I mean I imagine My Space would serve the same purpose no?
The first casualty of war is the truth and we’re at war with the left, only our side doesn’t realize it. They own the narrative with everything from “fact checkers” to election fixers to college professors to media mogals to big tech. They’ve got the bases covered, while our side is deathly afraid of being called “racist”.
I did use it now and then and certainly when this board was down. Zuck does suck. We need alternatives to FB but not sure what platform that is. I have a truth site on the laptop but never use it. Any one have any alternatives?
You’re right, I have no use for FB. My life is just fine without it.
For anyone who thinks that it’s just too hard and inconvenient to dump and shun fb, amazon, and other enemies now, just wait to see what hardships arise from our collective apathy and unwillingness to seem to be outside of the fold. Try GAB or another site for backup. Don’t be concerned if the ubiquitous propaganda has declared these sites to be racist or some other scary moniker.
About a year ago, I set up an FB account. I did it because so many people are using ‘Marketplace’ and I wanted to have another option to see who is selling what used equipment in my community. Anyway, I’ve never told anyone I have the FB account, I never used it to communicate with anyone (other than a handful of sellers), I never posted anything on it... I think I only visited it a few times when I was looking to buy something. Anyway, about a month ago I got a notice that I was shut down for “not meeting community standards” or something like that... and it seems that there basically is no way to communicate with anyone to figure out what on earth went on. I don’t really care but it is curious... .
