Sam Harris deserves our gratitude. With dazzling honesty, the liberal atheist public intellectual from LA has said out loud what we all knew but which his ilk have blurred for the past two years: Once you decide Donald Trump is the second coming of Adolf Hitler, then anything is legitimate to stop him — and, yes, everything illegitimate was done to stop him in 2020, and it was “warranted.”
Now that the Orange Hitler is lining himself up for a second tilt at the presidency, it’s OK to suspend democracy again to stop him.
This mass delusion of the left, that the former guy is “an existential threat to democracy” and a “moral emergency,” as Harris described it on British podcast “Triggernometery” last week, has metastasized under a president afflicted with a bad case of Trump derangement syndrome.
It has progressed to the next stage, of stigmatizing and dehumanizing Trump’s supporters, which has echoes in some of the darkest periods of 20th-century history. The dozens of Trump supporters held in a DC jail without trial for months and even years over Jan. 6 offenses, many nonviolent, would be recognized immediately as political prisoners by Amnesty International if they were detained in a country like Russia.

The idea that the Donald is like Hitler is laughably ridiculous. I doubt Hitler would have been very fond of the Donald.
And there has been no progression to stigmatize or dehumanize his supporters. Once they realized that he was mopping the floor with Yeb and the rest, 1000s were lining up for his rallies, they deemed that anyone that supported and voted for the man, was the enemy.

I find it interesting how vicious people become when they are about to be exposed as a corrupt criminal class.
I listened to Jordan Peterson’s debates/discussions with Sam Harris, who is some kind of post-modern agglomeration of atheism, his own spin on Buddhist meditation and leftist politics.
Having no objective truth, Harris’ ideas were a hairball of confusion. Peterson respected him throughout, but Harris didn’t deserve it.

Hitler would have looked for any crime he could pin on Trump, raided his house, tried to destroy his business, used the state media to try to ruin him, and done whatever else he could think of. He’d even have Bavaria or Prussia try to find their own offenses against him.

Hitler started WWII while Trump worked to end wars started by other Presidents and started no wars on his own.
Hitler and his close followers became obscenely rich after taking power, while Trump in office became poorer.

What we need is an antidote to the dementia of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Lead will work but there must be some other prescription.
Facts do not seem to work either. Maybe when the IRS starts beating down these deluded idiots, they will awaken from their diseased illusions.
Once you decide that anything is warranted to crush your political opposition firing squads are just a tiny step away.
I have some Trump derangement syndrome infected relatives.
I have learned the best way to handle them is to change the subject—to anything, the less political the better.
That seems to temporarily calm them down when they realize that President Trump is not the center of the universe and not worth being the center of their hate.
