Agree with both comments. Looking at a map, it sure looks a lot easier for Europe to get natural gas from Algeria than via LNG, and no more difficult than Russia. It’s TOO FUNNY that France is demanding their cut, in what is supposed to be The United States of Europe.

I think what keeps more pipeline development with Algeria from happening is the ‘feisty-ness’ of many of the ‘locals’ in Algeria.

And the longer they wait, the less value all players will see with sending gas to Europe, given that Europe STILL hasn’t jettisoned their Greens.

The EU is panicking because the "war" is lost though the final battles are still being fought.

Yep, the EU is done.

“A plan to build a pipeline from Spain to France in order to get this natural gas across Europe was canceled in 2019 due to economic and environmental reasons.”

If people in the EU freeze to death this coming winter, I’m sure their last thoughts will be “I’m sure glad I’m helping save the planet from globl warming by freezing to death.

...EU sanctions are hurting Moscow financially...

___________________________

Weeeell: it _would_ explain why the EU is considering reneging on financial/materiel donations to Ukraine. If the sanctions have worked, Ukraine shouldn’t need any more assistance, right?

Besides, the value of the Euro has fallen and most Europeans have decided they don’t really want a lower standard of living in order to continue a futile support to a losing side, let alone the New Liberal Order(tm) brought to them by the WEF’s Atlantic Alliance.

Sanctions! Is there nothing they can’t do?

Italy, a major gas consumer, has been signing gas supply deals with Algeria, and considering their own pipeline.

Production development investment has gone to Algeria as well, to increase their capacity. They are a big winner from this war. The next decade should see a surge in development and living standards there.

2023 my guess, governments collapsing, food shortages and high inflation always ends in regime changes- historic civil unrest already happening. The “ blame game” has a unique way in igniting war.

--- "Everything moves much more rapidly in this iteration." And "Yep, the EU is done."

Given the great arches and deep lessons of time across history, it does seem as if this EU "arch" -- which entails NATO as well -- is as yet a "short" history. I think this a correct vision.

Whatever the timeline, it is obvious that the EU is indeed panicking. Winter comes in months only, and the weakening of European industry which relies on energy resources will not survive the "windmills and solar" panels politics, which is why now "coal and nuclear" are deemed "green." It is only months before liquefied natural gas and petroleum are also "green."

Abiotic petroleum theory is becoming the most likely explanation to replace the lie of "fossil" fuels. Those believing in their "fossil fuels" climate change cult are really only the old and well known witch doctors who professed knowledge others could not understand. Scientific Gnosticism....married to simple grift.

The EU nations are having an energy crisis of their own making. Their green policies have made them dependent on wind and solar which never could meet their energy needs and then imported natural gas from Russia to pick up the slack. The French wisely built a nuclear powered grid, but in recent years the greens have stymied plans for France to become electric energy independent with 100% nuclear power.

If this winter proves to be colder than normal then many Europeans could find themselves shivering in barely heated darkened homes. Perhaps Greta Thunberg will be found frozen in a snow bank.

Of course, however, they are starting to crack. Widespread talk now amongst EU energy ministers state they need to open up Nordstream 2 ( just “ temporary “ of course) ,they know Vlad has got them by the gonads and Biden’s sanctions are crippling them. The Ukies are of course increasingly voicing concerns about fighting bad Vlad down to the last Ukrainian.

This rapid 180 degree turn just shows how bad it bodes for the war cheerleading and America’s “ Russian Derangement Syndrome”. I expect negotiations as winter nears.

….and Vlad continues to say Checkmate.

You are indeed well aware of interesting possibilities.

The petroleum industry keeps finding new oil deposits and there is a possibility that the Earth is making more oil than we thought.

Certainly there is a future for Renewable Energy, however it must be Efficient and Economical which proscribes Subsidies. Subsidies will destroy the integration and versatility necessary for that energy to service all as opposed to the Ultra Rich Ruling Elite.

Of course the EU is done, Economically they've squandered the assets of those that pay the taxes, now they have to collect from the Serf class to squander more. The Serfs don't have it to take.

A report came out a few days ago.

European countries have set goals to have 80% of their
natural gas needs covered by this fall. That is in
line with other years. Every one of them is on target,
and a few are way ahead.

I don’t believe there is going to be a big problem
this Winter. They seem to believe that.

The article was on the forum I believe.

I didn’t find it, so it may have been on Instagram.

"...the EU is done, Economically they've squandered the assets of those that pay the taxes, now they have to collect from the Serf class to squander more. The Serfs don't have it to take."

Your assessment seems quite apt. The EU has been predicated on available and reapsonably-proced energy, and now the "Green" political revolution is revolving to prove that ever more the reality.

The modern, prosperous world runs on energy, while a tally of the "sustainable" and politically-approved forms are a tiny fraction of what is needed to SUSTAIN modernity and prosperity.

In like manner, the "serfs" cannot SUSTAIN the overhead of profligate, corrupt and voracious government which demands it be "sustained." The final tab is being calculated, as a snapshot of Sri Lanka or Cuba or ZImbabwe shows.

There are yet more "assets" to be confiscated, when the State decides to eviscerate a nation's oligarchs, but then such a State will have no political support -- excepting serfs who will want but not provide. Until liberty again rises.
