The Mail is being purposely misleading here. The implication is the cameras were left on because staff refused to turn them off. The cameras were shut off but not by staff.

Well, they're just reporting what Eric Trump said, and I didn't see anything in Eric Trump's statement saying that the FBI turned off the security cameras on their own.

In any case, even asking for security cameras to be turned off under these circumstances is a really bad look for the FBI. They should have let his lawyer be present for that search as well.

I beg to differ. An honest story would have clarified the cameras were in fact turned off, which they were. This is how propaganda works. The reader is left with the impression the cameras were left on so when Trump makes his “wild accusations” about the FBI having the cameras turned off there is this. As a result there will be conflicting stories and the
desired confusion.
