Great idea.
Many problems would be solved. Worth the cost of the cameras, for sure. Weed out the teachers that rely on tenure to make a career out of laziness.
The public school system is not salvageable. The only way to bring it down is to offer a feasible alternative. The number of homeschooling parents has tripled and that trend needs to continue.
We’re more likely to get conservatives to homeschool than work in govt. I’ve seen one small school district go conservative (and then the liberal teachers ended up quitting). It took a decade or more of local Christians taking over the school board and collaborating in after school programs. It is constant work to keep out the rot. It could easily go the other way. This would never be possible in a larger urban area.
Your arguments sound a lot like “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em”
My arguments are far from being "join 'em". I imply eventual takeover or at the minimum true balance. It is not a good plan to walk away from the big city problems simply because that is where a majority of future leaders will be coming from.
Like it or not, the existing system must be fixed, just like the rest of the government crud. It took time to get where we are now, so it really isn't too much to ask for equal time to set it aright.
The only way it gets fixed is that everything present at the time the system was created be restored. That means restoring the culture of America ca. 1950. It ain’t going to happen. The country has fallen too far and too widely in a moral sense. The govt is more likely to come after homeschoolers than they are to change their ways. Look who is teaching. My children will never again set foot into that system. I hope and pray that it crumbles. It is evil.
If we can land men on the moon we can fix the school system.

Not going to the moon won’t ruin generations of children. Sending them to public school will.
Do you realize how many conservatives I know who lament most or all of their children turning out as “woke” progressives, and yet still won’t lift a finger to attack the problem?
The Republic will be finished before govt schools are “saved”. And if you cannot see this, given all that has transpired recently, with all due respect you’re delusional.

The root of the problem here, as it is in any country, is turning away from God. The single largest driver in turning ppl away from God in America is the government school system. That has been confirmed by the Barna surveys; 80 to 90% of school children from Christian families leave public schooling with a a secular humanist worldview. One needs to understand the original objective of state-run public schooling, and that that institution has been singularly successful in its real primary objective.
I am not sure why you seem to equate saving the Republic with saving public schooling. If you want to save the Republic, stand on principle regardless of outcome. We’ve been compromising with the enemy for decades. They OWN the public schools, the school book publishers, most of the universities. Do you want to dedicate every waking hour of the rest of your life to turning it around? If you do, then you will have wasted your remaining years. And that is true even if there were 100,000 like you. It is time to stop the wishful thinking, stop the compromising and realize that we have to go our own way, whether it be homeschooling, private or parent-run co-ops. Sure, run for the school board...with one’s children NOT in the system. The only solution is exodus.
My youngest is now attending Christian school online. He’s reading Solzhenitsyn and other literary greats as an 11th grader. It took him a full year in the new private Christian program to “detox” from low public school expectations. He’s getting a fantastic education, he’s not woke or liberal, and he maturing quickly. I would not dream of sending him back into the PS $h!thole. Why would any patriot parent?
