Bears, boars, monkeys and even dolphins are becoming bolder and more aggressive as climate change affects their habitats and forces them into confrontations with humans.
Dramatic changes in the landscape of rural Japan have caused significant changes in the behavior of the nation's wild animals, leading to more frequent — and more violent — clashes with humans.
In years gone by, bear attacks have typically accounted for the majority of the attacks on humans, along with occasional rampages by boars. But there has been a sharp increase in reports of attacks by monkeys this summer, while authorities in one coastal city have warned of dolphins becoming aggressive toward swimmers.
And while such confrontations in the past primarily took place when humans strayed off the beaten path, with people foraging for mushrooms and other mountain vegetables attacked by bears, incidents are increasingly happening in the suburbs of some of the nation's biggest cities.
“I think the statistics confirm that we are seeing far more cases in recent years than before," said Mariko Abe, of the Nature Conservation Society of Japan.
“There seem to be several factors contributing to the increase in these cases, but I think one of the biggest — particularly this year — is the effect of climate change," she told DW.

Actually, rural Japan is less populated than even a few decades ago. I’d say the wildlife is less fearful of humans than stressed out by encroachment. At least as far as the bears and boars are concerned. The monkeys are usually part of tourist areas, so maybe they just were pissed off people weren’t giving up the snacks.
Blame climate change for their dislike of sushi snacks
This is most amusing, since Japan’s own meteorological record shows virtually no climate change in the island nation.
Could be, global warming is hard on raw fish.
Climate change is causing this as well? Maybe if we wear a mask and get another booster then all will be good again…

I bought a house once that had been empty and in the woods for a number of years. Took a few years to teach all the big and little critters that they had no purchase there.

Climate change, maybe, tut food scarcity may be a much more compelling force. Japanese agriculture, like agricultural everywhere in the world, remains highly dependent on the supplies of seed, fertilizer, and motor fuel to produce the adequate supply which is pilfered to some degree by the wildlife. With fewer supplies coming through the supply chain, or have grown too expensive to use, the crop yield goes down. When the crop yield is down, the competition becomes that much more fierce.
Therefore, wild animals attack humans.
