(Reuters) -President Joe Biden on Friday nominated a lawyer who represented the Mississippi clinic at the heart of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn its landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade abortion rights decision to become a federal appeals court judge.

Biden's latest slate of nine new judicial nominees included Julie Rikelman, an abortion rights lawyer with the Center for Reproductive Rights whom the president picked to serve on the Boston-based 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Biden's latest nominees continued the White House's push to diversify the federal bench. They include Daniel Calabretta, a California state court judge nominated to become the first openly LGBT federal judge in the state's Eastern District.

Myong Joun, a state court judge in Boston, was picked to become the first Asian American man on the federal bench in Massachusetts, where Biden also nominated Julia Kobick, a deputy state solicitor in the state attorney general's office.

Biden also nominated Araceli Martinez-Olguin of the National Immigration Law Center and Superior Court Judge Rita Lin to be federal judges in California's Northern District.

Maybe my comment would be better on the Religion thread but I’ll make it: Biden is an OLD and frail 79. Was a bit sick with COVID. He’s on the edge of Eternity. Was does he think is gonna happen to him when he’s before the Judge? How can he think he’ll find anything but God’s Wrath for his complicity in helping to keep the slaughter of the unborn going? He’s not very wise. He’s just kinda DUMB.

Super dummy.

Case is closed. He can pretend for votes there’s stil a pro life pro abortion fight but there is not

Abortion rights are not in the constitution. That’s it

The states can fool around with this all they want however this is a country in which the foundation does not provide for abortion

There is no campaign platform for any lingering argument. There is no appeal. It is over.

Conservatives need a super majority in congress and the Senate so that they can impeach all the lawless political judges who don’t follow the constitution and the law. And that majority needs to have the guts to do it. There is no other way the courts system ever gets cleaned up. And in the end it is the court system that will make or break this country.

I’m betting that when some of these politically powerful devout Catholics who espouse abortion on demand are dying there won’t be enough priests in the world to walk by their death bed and forgive their sins. I’m thinking it would take over 63 million of them to do that.

So Biden just gave the middle finger to SCOTUS.

The court has spoken, they have punted back to the states and congress to create a law. The WH knows that they can never write that law so they want to punt back to the courts. This is a vicious circle jerk. Our government is a colossal wreck

There is nothing like “abortion rights”. That's like talking about “murder rights”.

The court ruled in 1973 that abortion was a right. The ruling was wrong everyone knew it. You cannot run around having mothers kill their own offspring. Everyone knows that

Now the court. The same one. Came in and fixed it

No Supreme Court that reverses that will ever ever be seen as legitimate

It is over.

This is the worst part of his presidency. He’s surpassed trumps first term with judges and if we win the house but not the senate, they will just push through judges the next two years. We better get at least 51 senators to stop most of it.

He may be a non-believer. A lot of these politicians pretend to be believers to fool voters. Then they’ll end up learning the hard way.

As difficult as it is, I have to pray that these people see the light before it’s too late.
