The man accused of gunning down Shinzo Abe believed the former Japanese prime minister was linked to a religious group he blamed for breaking up his family and causing his mother’s bankruptcy, police said.
Tetsuya Yamagami, 41, told police his original intention was to attack the leader of the group — which authorities declined to name, The Guardian reported.
“My mother got wrapped up in a religious group and I resented it,” the Kyodo news agency and other media quoted him as telling police.
Japan’s longest serving prime minister was killed Friday during a campaign stop near a train station in the western city of Nara. Yamagami was arrested at the scene, wielding a homemade gun.
Initial reports said Yamagami believed Abe was tied to a “specific organization” but did not describe its religious nature. The group has not been named.

How so?
Please explain why the Chinese would want Abe rubbed out .
I imagine the Japanese will expeditiously hang the murderer.
Japan executed three murderers by hanging in Dec of 2021, after an unexplained hiatus of two years.
So apparently an unhinged nut upset over local issues. Which is a relief - a disgusting thing but at least it doesn’t appear to be a globalist conspiracy.
On the other hand...maybe it was China -

So he was a shoot first, and ask questions later guy.
The information posted, while by no means the whole picture, was largely true.
The Knights do have a very nominal amount of secrecy (I’m 4th degree) along the lines of what was customary for many U.S. men’s fraternal organizations of the era. While the KKK is a red-flag, the Mason’s would be a better analog.
The KKK thing was false propaganda. The Knights sued for libel and the KKK retracted it.
Are you currently active? My husband is the current Past Grand Knight and I am an active Lady Knight. There is no more secrecy in the Knights.
Just imo. I have the same info as everyone else, however history and, most importantly, the past few years have made me extremely cynical. I suppose it’s possible trump lost fairly and squarely, Jan 6 was a genuine insurrection, Epstein really did commit suicide, and the coronavirus came from a bat cave. Personally, I cannot prove otherwise. But when a highly influential nationalist anti communist leader and supporter of a free Taiwan like Abe is assassinated, just as China appears to be gearing up to invade, and the only explanation is something as weak as has been offered I’m naturally suspicious.
Looks like a Japanese replica of our own leftist freaks.
Game developer. Not the guy but close enough.
Yes, I wasn’t trying to characterize the KofC in general, merely explain why it was secretive. The Klan (and yes, other branches of free-masonry) was very active throughout America, not just the Deep South, and their target was largely Catholics, not even principally blacks (until Birth of a Nation). I’ve been researching the Klan in the Southwest professionally, and frankly astounded how the KofC wasn’t just adopting mere ritual, but often wound up using martial force to defend their co-religionists.
I’m not very active, but when I began at least the initiation ceremonies were under the cloak of secrecy. If that has been lifted, then it may be entirely gone.
Yes. All secrecy gone in the last couple of years. I think it was about the time they switched to the new 4th Degree uniform.
I expect that what was “False propaganda” was the lies the KKK made up about the KofC being a terrorist organization. In my research, I read plenty of stuff from the KKK and KKK-aligned sources about how the KofC was trying to help Mexico take back the Southwest that was just simply insane! But some of what I DID find (and seemed to be uncontested) was pretty crazy. For instance, the KKK alleged that Mexico paid the poll tax for Americans of Mexican descent so that the Mexicans would vote for Republicans. The KKK even resorted to shooting Mexican-Americans when they tried to vote. So, the KofC set up snipers along the street. Never read about the snipers actually shooting anyone, but it sure kept the KKK from killing more Mexican-Americans.
(In this part of America, the targets of the KKK’s anti-Catholicism happened to be “Brown,” but such hatred against Irish, French, Italian, Poles, etc., was also common. That they happened to be “Brown” probably helped whip up hatred, but this was not primarily anti-”Brown” or even anti-immigrant; some KKK promoters were even Brown, Protestant immigrants fighting largely White, Catholic natives!)
I was not aware that even the rites are now open.
Are you talking about the Exemplifications? Yes, they are now open so that guests can attend.
