Wouldn’t this be the third, after the 82nd and 101st?
—————-
Being ex-82nd, there is only one true Airborne Division, the 82nd. The 101st is an Airmobile Division, they do not do Parachute operations. The 82nd has three airborne infantry brigades, and a combat Aviation Brigade. I have no idea what this new “ Airborne “ Division will encompass, but it surly will not be three Airborne Infantry Brigades.

That said, three brigades would last about three days against Vlad or Xi’s armies. When I was in, we could only count on to “ hold” an objective for three days as that is what we jumped in with- what we could strap on and carry-three days of ammo, food, gear….until re- supplied.

I doubt that given that Ukrainian farmers destroyed the Russian VDV units who attacked Kyiv. They ran back to Belarus with washing machines and other loot in tow.
