Russia’s will to win in Ukraine

Western policy elites that claim not to have seen this war coming -- after the Biden administration treated Ukraine as a de facto member of NATO during all of 2021, and after Russia had been saying for nearly a decade that it would not tolerate Ukraine as a US military bulwark on its border -- are just plain fools. If they really were this blind, they were unqualified for their jobs.

Before the war started, as late as December of 2021, the Russians very probably would have settled the Ukraine problem by a declaration of permanent Ukrainian neutrality (i.e., no NATO membership, ever), some form of reasonable autonomy for the Russian-speaking, pro-Russian Donbas within Ukraine, and recognition of Crimea as Russian. This settlement in no way would have adversely affected legitimate US/Western interests. The only US ox that would have been gored by this settlement would have been that of our odious neocon triumphalists, who want America to destroy Russia and become the world's unquestioned hegemon.

It was a fool's errand for the US to provoke this war, and for that matter a fool's errand from the start (1999), for the US to expand NATO eastward in the total absence of any Russian threat after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

You’d be lucky to find one in ten thousand americans who have the slightest idea what Minsk II was. And they don’t want to know either. Now the Russians are going to enforce it, and then some, and there is nothing troublemakers from the west can do about it, except shoot off their mouths.

This kind of article is on one hand, Monday morning quarterbacking. On the other hand, why do we have so-called experts studying (among other countries) Russian history and running classes in Russian studies at Georgetown and dozens of other schools?

It’s not as if if wasn’t perfectly well known that Russia was made very nervous, for whatever reasons, by the potential NATO-fication of Ukraine. After the fall of the USSR and however many countries, 6-8-10, were plucked from its influence, it just wasn’t enough. They didn’t care about losing Bulgaria and Romania nor even that much, Hungary. They never made a secret about Ukraine being a bridge too far.

Wars that don’t generate money laundering and profiteering opportunities don’t get fought for long. If there’s no money to be made there’s no need for a conflict. Its always about the money, graft and/or resources.

Yanukovych’s government was unacceptable for Washington and Berlin, so they toppled it and installed a comedian and a thief, and most importantly a puppet.

Flipping Ukraine has been in the MIC/Deep State sights since at least 1997 and the subsequent Orange Revolution. They were certainly far enough along in their plans such that in 2008 for Bush to publicly declare that Ukraine would definitely become a member of NATO.

there is ZERO strategic American interest in Ukraine, but geography and history make Ukraine Russia's paramount strategic interest. So why then would the US deep state pursue Ukraine for so long and so hard?

There is only one reason - their target is to encircling, and thus dismantling and controlling Russia. As neocon Godfather Zbigniew Brzezinski said in the 1990s - that ‘without Ukraine, Russia ceases to be a Eurasian empire’

It actually started after the fall of the soviet union.

Russia was promised no NATO east of Germany and the western nations stabbed them in the back.

The U.S. and allies violated Minsk. Russia violated nuclear treaties. Neither side can be mad at the other.

I’f true, the Ukrainian people would have welcomed Russia. They are voting with bullets now. I’d go back further, the fight started Aug 19, 1991.

The pre 2014 government was as legit as Crimea’s and Biden’s. You have to ignore Russian corruption and hyper focus on Ukraine’s in order to justify Russia.

Ukraine has a right to exist and to self determination.

As someone else put it;

On the face of things, yes it appears to have started in 2014 but the deep root of the issue is about 600 years old.

No, but deal with them responsibly. The idiots dealing with Russia now are a disaster in the making.

Never has world leadership been this inept and downright dangerous. The globalists/NWO/Great Reset bunch control them.

Soros, for example is tickled to death right now. They’re taking down the USA and Western Europe and he couldn’t be happier.
