"In April, the New Orleans Police Department’s Director of Communications asked me to stop referring to Interstate 10 shooters as serial snipers, and I have complied."
"Two weeks ago, on a Tuesday morning, a commuter from New Orleans East pulled his work van onto I-10 headed westbound. Between the exits of Read and Crowder boulevards, two pickup trucks without license plates blocked the lanes in front of him and decelerated.
One of the two eased into the left lane and slowed more, dropping beside the work van, while his confederate in the truck directly ahead of the commuter reduced speed to 10 miles per hour.
The commuter looked at the driver beside him as if to ask what was going on. Then, without answering, the driver, a man the commuter in the work van did not know, raised a handgun and opened fire.
One shot ripped through his driver’s side door, piercing a COVID mask hanging from the steering wheel. The commuter pressed his head back against the seat as a second shot busted his window and peppered his left hand with shattered glass.
When a third shot missed his face, the commuter pumped his brake pedal and ducked below his dashboard, grabbing his gun from the glove box. When he raised his head again, his assailants had gone."
"The following day, a New Orleans Police Department representative told a WWL-TV reporter that, in the first six months of 2021, NOPD investigated 12 interstate shootings, but only three caused fatalities.
In January, District Attorney Jason Williams told the New Orleans City Council that New Orleans interstate highways hosted 30 shootings in 2021. Three victims, he said, died in those 12 months, proving the death toll this year is increasing.
New Orleans police responded to 24 interstate shootings in 2020, bringing the number of random attacks in 30 months to 84 and the number of sniper deaths to eight."
"Now facing an average of three attacks per month, law enforcement must develop a plan to abate interstate shootings. To do so, they must first determine what forces they are fighting by proving whether or not these shootings are related."
August Palumbo, a former New Orleans Police detective and retired Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, told me, “NOPD doesn’t patrol the interstates. The motorcycle division did years ago, but they are escorts now.”
“NOPD has eliminated or decimated their key specialty units, like Traffic, Vice, Narcotics, Intelligence and Auto Theft. The only specialized detective unit left is Homicide. The Robbery and Burglary divisions no longer exist. Detectives spend their time writing reports with minimal time for follow-up,” August Palumbo explained. “New Orleans was ahead of the curve in defunding the police, death by a thousand budget cuts,” he said.

Couple of white guys in a white van?
ISOLATED incidents they say?
If there are 3 dead and another ten shot = NOT isolated.
How many of these shootings involve two suspects in two vehicles working together? 84 shootings in 30 months but only 8 dead means there are a lot of survivors with a story.
How many of them have a similar stories?

This happened a few weeks ago in WV.
This has been on going for 30 months?? First I have heard of it. Just goes to show how far we have fallen? Is fallen the correct term?
Could it be our tolerance and or expectations have changed so much?
Or is it concerted effort to hide from the general population how bad things are getting until it is too late.
In the late 80’s it was the interstates in and out of Detroit. I even wrote a song about it.
(Okay, it was in a friends basement on a 4 track, but it was a song)

Early 2000s - Dubya was President - massive media coverage.
Today - Biden President - media silence.
Plus, in the wake of #BLM, you can’t report on anything that might reflect poorly on blacks.
Can we assume the race of the suspects since it wasn’t mentioned?
This is not behind the paywall, I think by same writer. It has a synopsis of all the shootings.

First thought that occurred to me as well. With this many incidents, there has to be plenty of folks who saw the perps up close enough to know skin color unless they were totally hooded. This tells me that the perps are black and the NOLA police and politicians are playing a foolish game of hiding this information. Just sayin’.....
Also with this many incidents and the fact that so many cars have cameras, I’d be astonished if there isn’t some good footage out there. Where is it?
Coulter’s Law applies.
The powers that be don’t want the citizens to know that defunding the police was a very very bad idea since it was their idea. They can’t tell the truth about their policies because the people would vote them out (I would hope).

Are things going insane in New Orleans or what? The city has become one big sh*thole.
“Between the exits of Read and Crowder boulevards”
Ugh, the notorious New Orleans East.

Yes.
Glad to have left in 1989.
Toured it in a rental car post-Katrina with a close relative and decided my memories, pictures, and videos were all that remains for me to “visit”.
Not sure why a group of “Paul Kersey’s” in or out of vehicles haven’t taken up pathogen elimination there yet and reduced the numbers of these events.
