I asked the officer who pulled me over if he felt safe or wanted me to pull into a weedy parking lot. He said, “Yes please.” and decided to just warn me. The milk of human kindness has its rewards.
I made the mistake once of driving up the road to pull over into a parking lot for their safety. But he actually got mad at me for failing to pull over immediately.

After the above incident I pull over immediately as far as possible even if into grass to keep them safe. Since doing that I haven’t gotten a single ticket, only warnings.
