The Log Cabin Republicans, an organization of gay conservative activists, have been denied a booth at the Texas GOP convention, which runs June 16-18.

The decision was apparently a close 4-3 vote of the Texas State Republican Executive Committee.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t the Log Cabiners tend to push RINOs over conservatives?

They wanted to name themselves the Lincoln Republicans, but that was already being used. It’s based on the idea that Lincoln created the Repub party for equality.

So yea...

The contradiction is that a specific group for “gay Republicans” is really just an extension of the neo-marxist group identity politics. And as their name implies should we accept there is an identity and policies, for homosexuals, that politics and government can promote? This is antithetical to conservative and small government values. Can’t they just be “Republicans” and leave their sexual-preferences aside?

Good for Texas. The Republican Party is quickly becoming less of a conservative party and more of a populist party or even, to a certain extent, a liberal party. Social conservatives are once again becoming the red-headed stepchildren of the party (as can even be seen on this thread). The liberal wing of the party has always preferred Democrats to social conservatives. More and more within the party are following that lead. You may gain a few homosexual votes, but you risk having many social conservatives stay home or become less active in the party. Unfortunately, many within the party prefer it that way.

Today’s gays seem a little more bullish!
Maybe ‘gay’ tops being a true Republican.

It’s one thing to be gay and leave others alone, but this ‘in- your-face’ parades and ‘groomers’ have a lot of people leery of your everyday gays, now.

Still the Republican Party are known to do themselves in.

Are they Log Cabin members? I’ve read a few things here recently that tell me it isn’t a true conservative organization. Too interested in matters like accepting gun control, etc. as I recall.

Personally, I agree with the decision.

If gays are conservatives, let them identify as conservatives rather than marketing their sexual preferences.

Dittos!!!!!!!!

If they were really conservative, they wouldn't be hyphenating their identity.
What's next?
Trans-Conservatives
Pedophile-Conservatives (you know this is coming next)
Sodomy-Conservatives
Arsonist-Conservatives
IslamicState-Conservatives
DeepState-Conservatives

So, according to your logic, since the majority of black people openly support democrats, we shouldn’t trust any of them or allow them into our party.

There is nothing wrong with being black. If a black person wants to be a Republican, that's great. I would like them to say "I'm a Republican" rather than "I'm a black Republican" because just as there isn't anything wrong with being black, there is also nothing "special" about being black. A Conservative (of any color) should understand that.

But there is something wrong with being homosexual. It's not OK. And I don't trust them. They can vote anyway they want to. And if they truly hold Conservative values, they will vote Republican and shrug off the insignificant fact that I don't trust them. On the other hand, if they say, "Well! I guess I'll vote for the Democrat because that Republican over there offended me!" If they were to take that attitude, I'd assume that they meant to vote Democrat all along.

The organization has become RINO, anti Trump, iirc.

The LCR endorsed Trump in 2020 and Melania was their guest of honor at their convention in FL last September. What specifically have they said or done since then that’s anti-Trump?
