A request for Russian military assistance from the head of a Moscow-backed rebel in Ukraine's Donbas region has been batted away by the Kremlin.
Facing fierce shelling from Ukrainian forces, Denis Pushilin, head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), requested additional assistance from the Russian government in a video published on his Telegram channel on Monday.
Pushilin accused Kyiv of using "prohibited methods of warfare," and that the central districts of Donetsk were being shelled while other settlements in the republic were under fire.
"In this regard, an understanding was reached that all the necessary additional forces of the allied forces, primarily of the Russian Federation, will be involved," he said.
Despite 30 "enemy firing points being suppressed," he said the "enemy still has enough weapons capable of inflicting fire strikes on our settlements."

Asked about Pushilin's comments, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters such decisions were the "the prerogative of the Ministry of Defense, since this is a continuation of a special military operation," referring to the approved term for the war in Ukraine.
Peskov said Wednesday that the cities of Luhansk and Donetsk were facing "intensifying" shelling, and that there had been additional operational requests.
When asked how Putin as Russia's commander-in-chief would respond to Pushilin's request, Peskov said such questions "are for our military," according to the newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets.

Luhansk is 95% cleared. Donetsk only a little more than 50%. When the UFA gives up on Lysychansk and Slavyansk, the Russians will turn to Donetsk more aggressively. I don’t know what Luhansk was prioritized, but apparently the military priority for now is finishing in Luhansk.

Mucous, you need to understand that this war is mostly over. It has lost interest when people are having terrible issues with life in their own countries. Frankly, Ukraine is over and Zelensky will probably go down with it. Weak sauce from Newsweak doesn’t pass the smell test.
Biden has thrown Z under the bus and the EU is back to buying from Russia because those in charge know their political and own existence is in danger if they don’t provide.
So the ruskies can obliterate towns but the Ukes can not be allowed to do the same?-)

Russians escalated to shelling cities to rubble. So blame Russia if that is now the way the war is being fought.

The UFA is holed up in a chemical works, just as the Azovs holed up in Avostal...with hostages. The UFA chemical plant contingent is cut off, and the Russians are minimizing killing by just waiting for them to surrender instead of leveling the plant and storming it. The Russians have held Severodonetsk for a couple of weeks or so. The chemical plant is a detail. Whether anyone likes it or not, the Russians are slowly and methodically taking apart the UFA in the east. My guess is that a UFA coup will depose the Zelensky regime. Of course, unlike many others here, I admit that that is just an informed guess that may be wrong.
After the Tet offensive, Viet Cong losses were so heavy they lost influence. The North Vietnamese Army rose in importance and political power in North Vietnam.
What happened to the VC is happening to the DNR and LNR now. Not that the Pro-Russia boosters are paying attention to this.
DNR were also sent to Kherson to dig trenches and are getting killed nightly by the partisans. Makes sense there is turmoil between Putin and DNR.
